y. Resilience is our ability to bounce back from the stresses of life. It's not about avoiding or denying stress, but rather, building good coping skills that we can use to deal with stressful situations. We used to believe that resilience is something that you were born with. While part of that is true, new research tells us that resilience is actually a skill - not just a personality trait - and it can be learned. Resiliency is made up of 5 Pillars:
- Self-Awareness
- Mindfulness
- Self-Care
- Positive Relationships
- Purpose

By strengthening these pillars, we in turn, become more resilient. Instead of experiencing a downwards spiral when we encounter stress in our lives, these five pillars work together to lift us up out of the chaos we are feeling. Obtaining and maintaining these skills, takes practice. We hope, by choosing to take part in the various Bounce Back Project programs offered by Buffalo Hospital, you will not only build your own resilience - but be healthier AND happier.

Purpose is what gives life meaning. Whether big or small, it shapes how we show up for others and helps guide us through both busy and challenging seasons.

Purpose can be found in many places:

- In your daily work or routines
- In things that bring you joy
- In supporting others or your community

As we head into the weekend, take a moment to reflect on what gives your life a sense of purpose.

The Bounce Back Project invites you to show up for your neighbors using our concepts: random acts of kindness, letters of gratitude, and social connections.
Check in. Lend a hand. Be present.
This week, do one kind thing for a neighbor—and encourage someone else to do the same.
