So what is this about: Space & Pace in therapy? Part 7
When sharing of processing uncomfortable thoughts, memories, in short "your story"the therapist will adjust their speed of sharing so that attunement continues. When you are overwhelmed the therapist will slow down or pause or provide a way for you to feel grounded before going further. A therapist might also nudge you gently to continue to share, to go deeper or to explore the feelings that arise in session.

How do I know I am safe in a therapy space? Part 6
A therapist sets up a space by establishing a relationship with you. The therapist is attuned to what the space should be. For example do you need to know that there is a lot of room to feel comfortable?
A therapist will attune to you and be ale to gauge what is comfortable for you. A good therapist will endeavor to never take you to any emotional place that you do now want to go to. The therapist will pace the sessions in a way that keeps you comfortable to continue sharing.

Why do we use the term safe space? Part 5

It means the therapy room or the virtual room can become a container. Within the container ther are boundaries and guardrails. in other words the confidential space offers a place if freedom of expression. You may find yourself expressing words, action o through art, music or movement. The therapist will guide you and pace the experience of therapy so that you are not overwhelmed by past trauma. The space remains contained. The space remains safe for you.

Why would I call therapy a safe haven? Part 3
Therapy is meant to provide you with a safe space and an individual that is capable of attuning to you. A therapist iis trained to listen, observe and mirror back to you in that safe space. This creates within that space a way for you to express inner feelings and to gain insight. Then the therapist can help you work toward acquiring strength and resilience.
