📣What is its legal status?
Kratom is not controlled under the Controlled Substances Act.
The FDA has not approved Kratom and there is no guarantee of the safety or quality of products sold. Some products have been found to be contaminated with heavy metals and bacteria.
The DEA has listed kratom as a Drug and Chemical of Concern.
📣What is it?
Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. Consumption
of its leaves produces both stimulant effects (in low doses) and
sedative effects (in high doses).
Kratom leaves contain two major psychoactive ingredients (mitragynine and
7-hydroxymytragynine), which work like opioids.
📣Side Effects:
Kratom is possibly UNSAFE for most people.
Kratom can cause many side effects including nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite/anorexia, itching, sweating, dry mouth, constipation, increased urination, tachycardia, high blood pressure, drowsiness, insomnia, aggression, hallucinations, trouble breathing, liver damage, seizures, and death.
Some users experience psychotic symptoms, psychological and physiological dependence, and withdrawal symptoms similar to other opioids. Sometimes this occurs over time or with higher doses, and sometimes it occurs fairly quickly.
📣Special Precautions:
Interactions with other medications, supplements/vitamins, and substances: Interactions are common and can be serious.
Pregnancy: Babies exposed to kratom during pregnancy have experienced withdrawal symptoms after birth. These babies require special treatment for addiction.
Alcohol use disorder: People with alcohol dependence who use kratom appear to have an increased risk of su***de.
Epilepsy: People with epilepsy who use kratom might have an increased risk of seizures.
Heart conditions: Kratom might worsen existing heart conditions. It might increase the risk of a very fast heartbeat and high blood pressure
Mental disorders: Kratom might worsen existing mental disorders. People with mental disorders who use kratom appear to have an increased risk of su***de.
