3 Simple Stretches to Stay Loose During the Holiday Season

🎄 Holiday stress causing increased tightness? Here are 3 simple stretches to keep your neck, mid-back, and low back feeling loose all season long:

1️⃣ Neck Stretch – Upper Trap Release
• Gently tilt your head toward one shoulder
• Hold 20–30 seconds
• Repeat on the other side
Perfect for releasing stiffness from poor sleep or long periods on the phone/computer!

2️⃣ Mid-Back Stretch – Seated Twist
• Sit tall, rotate your torso to one side
• Hold the back of your chair for a deeper stretch
• Breathe in and lengthen through your spine
Great for counteracting hours of driving or sitting at work or holiday events.

3️⃣ Low Back Stretch – Knees-to-Chest
• Lie on your back
• Bring one or both knees toward your chest
• Hold 20–30 seconds
Great for relieving low-back tension and opening the lumbar region.

Standing vs. Slouching

How many of us pass people everyday on the street or at work that look hunched over? We probably do it ourselves and don't even realize it! Here are a few simple things to look for in yourself to see if you are standing up straight or slouching over.

👉 When you stand tall:
• Ears align over shoulders
• Shoulder blades back + relaxed
• Core lightly engaged
• Weight evenly through both feet

👉 When you slouch:
• Forward head posture
• Rounded shoulders
• Compressed low back
• Fatigue + tension set in fast

Now we are in the season of wrapping gifts. Have you noticed it is harder to get up after doing this on the floor? Most people hunch over the floor or table leading to neck tension, low back pain, and shoulder strain.

Try this instead:
✔ Sit or stand at a table that keeps your spine upright
✔ Keep gifts closer to you to avoid rounding forward
✔ Take a stretch break every 10–15 minutes
✔ Keep your shoulders relaxed—not up by your ears
