If you’ve ever struggled to get a child to participate in hand-strengthening or sensory activities… it might not be the activity, it’s the approach 💡

This isn’t just peeling tape, it’s a challenge, a game, a “can you do it?” moment 🎯

Suddenly they’re:
✨ Building hand strength
✨ Using both hands together
✨ Tackling something just tricky enough

And that “just right” challenge? That’s where frustration tolerance and sensory skills grow without the power struggle 🙌

Modeling without expectation means we model language without requiring children to repeat it back. 🗣️✨

When we describe, label, and expand during play, we create a pressure-free space for communication to grow.

Speech tip: avoid putting “say…” before modeling language (e.g., “Say ‘ball’”). Adding “say” turns a model into a test and can create pressure rather than support.

Language blossoms when children feel supported, not tested. 🌳

By squeezing, pulling, rolling, and hiding tiny objects in theraputty, kids build important skills like:�• Hand strength�• Finger isolation�• Bilateral coordination�• Pencil and scissor grasp readiness ✏️

It’s hands-on, engaging, and adaptable for so many ability levels making it one of our favorite tools in pediatric OT!
