You’re Not Alone This Holiday Season
Support Is Just a Call Away 📞

During the holiday season, it’s important to remember that while this time of year can bring joy and celebration, it can also bring stress, loneliness, and emotional challenges. The North Carolina Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services wants every North Carolinian to know: you are not alone.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just need someone to talk to, help is always available:

• Call or text the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline for free, confidential support 24/7. Trained crisis counselors are ready to listen and help you through whatever you're facing.

• Reach out to the NC Peer Warmline at 1-855-PEERS NC (855-733-7762). Staffed by trained Peer Support Specialists with lived experience, the Warmline offers a compassionate ear and understanding support for mental health and substance use concerns.

These services are available to all North Carolinians, no matter where you live or what you’re going through. This season, let’s take care of ourselves and each other. If you or someone you know is struggling, don’t wait—reach out. Support is just a call or text away.

A wonderful opportunity from our friends Partners Health Management

Preguntar, Persuadir y Referir

Aprender a ofrecer esperanza
Aprender a buscar ayuda y salvar una vida

Happy Thanksgiving from Be Well Iredell! ❤️🧡💙
Today we’re thankful for this community — for everyone showing up with kindness, compassion, and courage to talk about mental health.

Remember: if the gravy spills or Uncle Larry brings that casserole again, it’s okay. Gratitude pairs well with laughter. 😉

Take a mindful moment before you eat, breathe deep, and name one thing (or person) you’re truly thankful for today.

Helpful resource: Feeling overwhelmed? Check out Real Convo Guide for tips on having meaningful conversations that support mental health.

Tag someone you’re grateful for or share one thing that made you smile today.

💙To all the caregivers making magic behind the scenes — you deserve a standing ovation (and maybe a nap). 👏
If you’re running on coffee and kindness, you’re not alone.

Take a deep breath — seriously.
Inhale… exhale… repeat until your shoulders remember they’re not earrings. 😌

Even a minute of mindful breathing can lower stress and heart rate. Try this 1-minute guided exercise from NAMI

⬅️Breathe in through the nose for a count of four.
⏸Hold your breath for a count of four.
➡️Breathe out for a count of four.

Now, how do you feel?

Thanksgiving survival tip 🦃
When the conversation turns ‘too spicy,’ implement the Kitchen Escape Plan — grab an apron, stare deeply into a pot of boiling water, and say you’re ‘monitoring the situation.

Bonus stress relief: squish your relatives with your fingers from across the room. No one gets hurt, and you’ll feel instantly better. 😂

Remember: it doesn’t have to be perfect to be peaceful.

What’s your go-to Thanksgiving stress strategy?

The holidays can bring a mix of emotions — joy, nostalgia, stress, even sadness — and that’s completely normal. 💛You don’t have to force ‘perfect. Give yourself permission to slow down, feel what you feel, and focus on what truly matters: connection, rest, and kindness (to yourself, too).

How do you take care of your mental health during the holidays?

💚Today we honor and stand with those who've lost someone to su***de. 💚
Since 1999, this day — always the Saturday before Thanksgiving — has brought survivors together to find connection, understanding, and hope during a season that can be especially hard. American Foundation for Su***de Prevention Survivor Day provides community and healing.

You are not alone. Healing happens in community.

Talk to yourself like you would a friend: "I'm doing my best. I deserve rest." 💜
Instead of being hard on yourself when things go wrong, use kind words instead. Acknowledge your mistakes without self-judgment, focusing on what you can learn, just like you would encourage a friend. Embrace self-compassion by recognizing your feelings and affirming your worth. And remember to celebrate even your small successes!

🎤 Oprah voice: You get a NOPE! You get a NOPE! Everybody gets a NOPE! 🙅‍♀️
Setting boundaries isn’t mean — it’s mental health magic.
Saying ‘no’ doesn’t make you difficult; it makes you peaceful. ✨

👋Raise your hand if you do, or tag a friend who needs to hand out a few ‘Nope’s' this week 🤭
