Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead celebrated Veterans Day with a special afternoon program. One resident graciously shared a Veterans Day prayer, and cards and words of thanks were presented to residents and staff who served in the military. We also shared memories and photos of family and friends who have served our country. Thank you to all who have served — we honor and appreciate you!

Our residents welcomed a group of neighborhood trick-or-treaters on Halloween! Their adorable costumes and bright smiles brought joy to everyone. Staff members also joined in the fun, bringing their own children to celebrate the spooky festivities

Our residents are getting into the Halloween spirit as they stuffed ghost bags with crumpled newspaper and decorated Halloween craft foam sheets with black cats, haunted houses, and other festive shapes. One resident chose to decorate pumpkin cutouts by sketching faces on them, joking that they were “self-portraits.” Happy Halloween!

Our residents enjoyed this week’s Travelogue of California! Many have lived or vacationed there over the years, and the video brought back wonderful memories — dining at the Brown Derby, marveling at the giant Redwoods, and strolling along the glistening Glass Beaches. 💛

And a special thank you for the adorable decorative pumpkins — they added the perfect seasonal touch and are so appreciated!

Our residents enjoyed their first Annual Car Show, despite the late October date and looming weather. The 1970s Stingray and the adorable granddaughter of our Dining Supervisor, riding in her coupe, were the show favorites.

September is National Honey Month! Archivist Petra Gunderson-Leith gave an engaging presentation on the history of beekeeping in Clay County. Did you know Minnesota is the 5th largest honey-producing state? One resident even shared fond memories of working on a local bee farm as a teenager.

Our residents have been loving every moment of watching the gardens grow this season. The zinnias have made the most beautiful floral arrangements, brightening up our spaces with color and joy.

And the real showstopper? The sunflower — it just keeps growing taller and taller, amazing everyone with its towering beauty!

Nature never fails to bring smiles around here.

Our residents were delighted to see the unique varieties of tomatoes they had planted earlier this season come to life! Bumble Bee, Indigo Blue, Red Mountain, and Pear tomatoes, all started this spring by a friend of the community—are now ripe, colorful, and absolutely delicious!

Our residents had a great time during National Aviation Week, competing to see whose paper airplane could fly the farthest. The activity sparked wonderful memories for many, especially those who served as pilots in the military and continued flying in the years that followed.

One resident fondly recalled a story about his brother and a friend who bought a used Piper Cub and rebuilt it to look and fly like new. He remembers one unforgettable day when he and his brother flew from Rugby to Minot, then on to Bismarck, over to Valley City, and back home again. It was a truly special memory for this 90+ year-old aviation enthusiast!

Thank you to Jacinda's Daycare for letting us borrow Luke for the day! Both residents and team members really enjoyed having him here and he happily soaked up all the attention. Pet therapy is always appreciated.
