We are back with another Who We Are Wednesday! 👏

This week we are featuring Jen, our Patient Access Manager at CHSI. Jen first joined CHSI as the Site Manager in Moorhead in February of 2022 and rejoined our team in January of 2025 as our Patient Access Manager.

Jen does so much to support our clinics. Her role includes keeping provider schedules up to date, guiding our registration and scheduling teams, supporting onboarding for specialty providers, and serving as one of the leads on our new EHR system.

Jen says she loves working at CHSI because of the team. She appreciates how resourceful everyone is and the grit our staff bring to their work every day. She also loves that CHSI truly works to reduce barriers for patients and that departments collaborate to make sure every patient is cared for.

Outside of work, Jen enjoys spending time with her pets, listening to music, being a foodie with her partner, and going hiking. Thank you for all you do, Jen!

This Black History Month, we honor Aaron Shirley, a physician, innovator, and civil rights leader who dedicated his life to eliminating health disparities rooted in race, income, and zip code.

Born in Mississippi in 1933, Dr. Shirley became the state’s first African American pediatrics resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He went on to co-found the Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center, expanding access to care for underserved communities despite significant political and social opposition.

His vision continued with the creation of the Jackson Medical Mall, an innovative model that brought health care, human services, and economic development together under one roof.

Dr. Shirley’s legacy reminds us that advancing health equity requires courage, creativity, and deep commitment to community.

Who Are We Wednesday! Today we are highlighting Stacy Olson, our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

Stacy is passionate about helping patients heal from trauma and find real relief through thoughtful, personalized treatment plans. She loves collaborating with our therapy teams to make sure every patient feels fully supported and cared for, because at CHSI we treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

From depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, substance use, and schizophrenia, Stacy works alongside patients to build plans that truly meet their needs. She especially appreciates our incredible bilingual staff who help ensure everyone feels welcome and understood. At CHSI, there is no judgment. Everyone belongs here.

Outside of work, Stacy’s heart belongs to animals. She has three dogs and two cats, volunteers at the Humane Society, and dreams of opening her own animal sanctuary one day.

Thank you for all you do, Stacy!

For our first Black History Month Health Center spotlight, we’re honored to highlight Dr. L.C. Dorsey. ✨

Born to tenant farmers in the Mississippi Delta, Dr. Dorsey rose from poverty to become a civil rights advocate and a driving force behind the Tufts-Delta Health Center, the first rural community health center in America. Recruited by Fannie Lou Hamer, she organized for justice and helped shape a health center model that addressed not just illness, but poverty, food access, and opportunity.

While raising six children, she earned her GED, a master’s degree from State University of New York, and a Ph.D. from Howard University, becoming a lifelong champion for equity and community power.

Her legacy reminds us: health care is justice work. 💛
