With the current EHV/EHM outbreak, here are the protocols I will be enforcing to protect your and my horses while keeping sessions moving smoothly and safely.
• One barn per day
Only one stop/barn per day, the first stop of the day. I will not be visiting any other horses prior (even my own)
• I arrive clean and disinfected
• Everything will be disinfected
My clothes, shoes, ALL equipment, down to the pen I write with and the Red Bull I *will* be bringing will be disinfected prior to entering the site and in between each horse if requested
• NO quarantined or symptomatic barns
🫵 What I need from you:
+ No horse temping a fever
+ 14-day buffer for high risk horses
No sessions for horses that
- just came back from shows or large events
- shipped in from out of state
- are new arrivals to your barn
Standard vet protocol.
+ Travel disclosure
🫵 If you’re unsure, ask!
Policy will update as state and local vets release new guidances.
Most important, stay properly informed!
There is WILD misinformation spreading. As of right now, there are only confirmed cases in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Colorado, and New Mexico.
The Equine Disease Communication Center is the most truthful and reliable source for information.
