Hospice of the Sacred Heart hosted the semiannual Blessing of Hands Ceremony and awarding of the Chairman's Award to kick off National Hospice Month this morning at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic. Shannon Volack, RN Case Manager at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, received the coveted Chairman's Award.

You have chosen to bless others with your hands in the work you do. Now we are going to bless your hands in recognition of the Holiness of what you do every day. "Oh Holy God, bless these hands that they may continue to be a blessing to others." Amen.

St. John the Evangelist Church in Pittston was the beautiful setting for the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Fall Interfaith Memorial Service yesterday. Rabbi Marjorie Berman, from Temple Israel of Lehighton, delivered a very poignant reflection linking the fall harvest to the end of life journey. Dan Simrell, Angela Cianci and Mark Woodyatt provided exquisite music throughout the service.

Beth Rossi, Community Relations Specialist at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, participated in the Annual Senior Expo hosted by Ladore Retreat and Conference Center. The event featured dozens of vendors and offered information, free seminars, refreshments and health screenings.

Hospice of the Sacred Heart invites you and your family to our interfaith memorial service. It will be held on Sunday, November 2 at St John the Evangelist Church, which is located at 35 William St. in Pittston, PA. The service itself will be from 2 PM to 3 PM and then immediately following the service we will have the opportunity to gather together in the church basement for light refreshments. There is off street parking available in the lot on Church St. The building is handicap accessible and the entrance for the elevator is also located off of Church St.

Holiday Hearts is a special, commemorative program for children and their families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The goal is to memorialize loved ones, acknowledge feelings, and create something symbolic for the holiday season to use as a remembrance. Holiday Hearts will be presented Monday, December 8th at 5:30 pm. This is an in-person program and pre-registration is required by calling 570-706-2400.

Lynn O'Mara, RN, Clinical Nurse Educator, and Beth Rossi, Community Relations Specialist at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, participated in the Wyoming County Senior Expo at the Triton Hose Company in Tunkhannock last Friday. The expo was sponsored by State Representative Tina Pickett.

Good morning everyone!

A hundred thousand thank yous to everyone who planned, volunteered, participated in, packed, moved, unpacked, re-packed, set up and cleaned up (all with a smile!) to make Saturday’s annual Remembrance Walk a huge success! The high schools and University of Scranton volunteers were amazing! The weather was perfect, and the participants were wonderful! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
