One self-love resource I often appreciate is Self-Love Workbook for Women by Megan Logan, MSW, LCSW. What stands out about this workbook is its practical, compassionate approach—it doesn’t treat self-love as a mindset you should already have, but as a skill that can be learned and practiced over time.

From a clinical perspective, self-love is not about perfection or positivity. It’s about developing a safer, more supportive relationship with yourself—especially during periods of stress, transition, or emotional exhaustion. This workbook offers structured reflection and gentle exercises that can support that process without overwhelming the nervous system.

For many, self-love begins not with affirmations, but with understanding, boundaries, and self-compassion. Resources like this can be a helpful starting point.

When the world feels overwhelming, gratitude often becomes smaller—and that’s appropriate. Noticing a calm breath, a moment of quiet, or the relief of being understood can be helpful to support regulation.

These moments are not insignificant. They are signals to the nervous system that safety is still accessible.

In challenging times, gratitude does not mean ignoring what is difficult or painful. Clinically, gratitude can be understood as a grounding practice—one that helps the nervous system orient to moments of safety or steadiness, even while stress remains present.

Gratitude and grief can coexist. Both deserve space.

A common misconception about EMDR therapy is that it is only for single, clearly defined traumatic events. In practice, EMDR is often used to support chronic stress, attachment wounds, medical trauma, and long-standing patterns that impact daily life.

You do not need to be “at your worst” to benefit from deeper therapeutic work.

Love Through a Trauma-Informed Lens

In a trauma-informed framework, love is less about intensity and more about safety. Feeling seen, respected, and emotionally regulated in connection with others is often a sign of healing nervous system patterns—not weakness or dependency.

If relationships feel confusing or activating, there may be old survival strategies at work. These patterns can be understood and supported with care.

Valentine’s Day can bring up a wide range of emotions—connection, grief, loneliness, or mixed feelings. There is no correct way to experience this day.

From a clinical perspective, emotional responses are shaped by attachment history, loss, and current stressors. All responses make sense in context.

Share some love with one another, today and every day 🥰

You’ve been trained to stay strong. To push through. To handle whatever comes your way.

But what happens after the deployment ends—or after the call you can’t forget?

Trauma doesn’t always look like breaking down. For many in the military, it hides behind:
• Hyper-focus at work
• Irritability or snapping at those you care about
• Emotional numbness
• Chronic stress that never fully goes away

You’re still “functioning,” still doing your duty—but inside, your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, replaying what your mind is ready to forget.

Healing doesn’t mean losing your strength. It means taking back control, reclaiming your life, and giving your mind and body the chance to rest from battles that have already passed.

Through focused approaches like EMDR, you can reprocess the memories, release the hold trauma has on you, and finally feel like yourself again.

💙 You served your country. Now it’s time to serve yourself.

February can feel heavy. The shortened daylight, ongoing stress, and lack of natural pauses this time of year can leave many people feeling emotionally and physically depleted.

If you’re noticing lower energy, increased irritability, or difficulty focusing, it doesn’t mean you’re failing—it may be your nervous system asking for more support.

Gentle awareness and compassion are often more helpful than pushing through. Rest, structure, and connection matter right now.
