As a former Special Education Program Specialist and School Psychologist, I know just how complex the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is. IDEA lays out the laws governing special education and it is a HEFTY document. Not surprisingly, most parents who are entering the special education world for the first (or fifth) time and just want to help their struggling child, often feel overwhelmed and confused.
