Mrs. Willa Dean Huffman Church, 76, of Purlear passed away on Thursday December 4, 2025.
Willa was born on June 24, 1949 in Wilkes County to Fred Walter Huffman and Dora Mae Lovette Huffman.
She loved the Lord and was ready to be with Jesus. Willa loved gathering with her family, cooking and watching, Days of Our Lives. Jake and Poppy are her beloved dogs.
Willa is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Dora Huffman.
Willa is survived by her husband of 56 years, Duane Church Sr.; daughter, Marty Leann Shumate and husband, Bobby of Hays; sons, Tony Church and wife, Tammy of Burlington, Fred Church and wife, Shelly of Ashe County, Duane Church Jr., and wife, Jammie of Purlear; sister, Phyllis Miller and husband, Gary of North Wilkesboro; brothers, Lonnie Huffman and wife, Joan of North Wilkesboro, Tommy Huffman and wife, Sherry of Millers Creek; 11 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 12:00-12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel, 2109 Moravian Falls Road Moravian Falls, NC 28654. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel. Burial will follow at Yellow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Tim Byrd and Rev. Derek Bumgarner will be officiating.

Mrs. Barbara Ann Elledge Miles, 82, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on September 15, 1943 in Wilkes County to Ransom McKinley Elledge and Alice Monday Elledge.

She faithfully attended Zion Baptist Church. Barbara was a retired Registered Nurse and always looked for ways to take care of others. She loved her family but most of all she loved Jesus and shared that love with as many has she could.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lucille Chambers, Frances Boyles; brothers, Ray Elledge, Kenneth Elledge, Kermit Elledge, Rufus Elledge.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Miles; daughter, Becky Parker and husband, Jeff; son, Randall Miles and wife, Tammy; grandchildren, Carrie Parker, Jacob Parker, Caleb Parker, JL Miles, brother, Richard Elledge; sisters, Ellie Cox and Billy Stamp.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Zion Baptist Church of Hays.

A private burial in the family cemetery.

Elder Sammy Taylor and Rev. Julius Blevins will be officiating.

In addition to flowers, memorials may also be given to Zion Baptist Church, P.O. Box 372 Hays, NC 28635.

Mrs. Martha Annette Jourdan, 84, of McGrady, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Wilkes Medical Center.
Martha was born on September 4, 1941 in Washington DC, to Charles Herbert Jourdan and Margaret Watson Jourdan.
Martha was a graduate of Duke University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. She worked as a social worker for 40 years. She was a lover of animals and owned many dogs in her life time. Martha was also a woodworker and sign painter.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Anne Holbrook
Martha is survived by her niece Jamie Holbrook Troiani; nephew, Charles Vance Holbrook and wife, Annette; cousins, Nan Henry and Marion Dare Henry.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of George Thomas McNeil, Sr on Monday at his home in Ferguson.

Tom was born August 24, 1932 to Frank and Paralee McNeil, he was 1 of 15 brothers and sisters.

Tom was employed at Broyhill furniture for 37 years. He enjoyed riding the roads in Ferguson, fishing with his son and grandkids. His favorite pastimes included gardening and driving his beloved tractor. He enjoyed spending the day in his recliner watching the squirrels and birds and over the years had several dogs that brought him a lot of joy. Tom loved the stories his son told of his trucking adventures. He loved the funny stories and had the best laugh that sometimes he just couldn't stop. He really loved seeing all the new babies that were coming into the family. He very much enjoyed his wife's cooking but he loved the sweets!

Tom was proceeded in death by his parents, 7 brothers and sisters and oldest daughter, Darlene.

Those left to honor his memory include, his wife Edith of 67 years; 3 children, Kathleen Call and husband, Grayland, Jackie Hicks and husband, Robbie, Thomas McNeil and wife, Kristy; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. His passing leaves a hole no one can ever fill. We are forever grateful for the 93 years he was here for us to spend time with him.

The family would like to thank the hospice team for the care they gave Tom during the short time they were there and the support they gave Edith and the family.

The funeral will be held at Elk Baptist Church, 1278 Elk Creek Darby Road, Ferguson, NC 28624, on December 1, 2025 at 11 am. Pastor Mike Hamby will open and Rev Vernon Eller will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations maybe given to Elk Baptist Church: 1278 Elk Creek Darby Road Ferguson, NC 28624. The family request no food.

Mrs. Loretta Grace Pearson Land, 68, of Moravian Falls, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Ridge Valley+ Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Loretta was born on April 14, 1957 in Wilkes County to Jeter Lewis Pearson and Flossie Grace Smith Pearson.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking strolls with her husband.

Loretta is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Pearson; brothers, Howard Pearson, Leonard Pearson.

Loretta is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Land of the home; sons, Jason Land of Wilkesboro, Jeremy Land and wife, Ericka of Millers Creek; sisters, Rachel Pearson of Ferguson, Martha Parlier of Lenoir; brother, Sam Pearson and wife, Bobbie Sue of Hiddenite; grandchildren, Brent Land, Kristina Land, Serenity Land, Tyler Land, Hallie Land, Karsyn Land and 4 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-1:45p.m., Sunday November 30, 2025, at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel, 2109 Moravian Falls Road, Moravian Falls, NC 28654. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel. Burial will follow in the Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Moravian Falls.

Mrs. Bernice Josephine Sparks Mathis “G G”, 96, of North Wilkesboro passed away on Monday, November 17, 2025 at her home.
Bernice was born on September 14, 1929 in Forsyth County, North Carolina to William “Barney” Sparks and Rachel Victoria Joines Sparks.
Bernice was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Little Brushy Mountain Fire Department where she was a First Responder. Some of her volunteer work included, The Red Cross and the America Legion VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1142. She was an avid farmer raising both chicken and cattle for over 60 years; she also worked at Holly Farms-Tyson for 29 years.
Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gaither Lee Mathis; son, William L. Mathis; sisters, Blanche Sparks Daniel, Doris Sparks Cioffi, Faith Sparks Hawkins; brother, Claude W. Sparks.
Bernice is survived by her daughter, Barbara Mathis Dunnigan of King North Carolina; Bruce A. Mathis and wife, Louise Mathis of Wilkesboro North Carolina; grandchildren, David Dunnigan, Jennifer Campbell and husband, James, Autumn Hartley and husband, Tim, Seth Mathis and wife, Tandy; 11 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Saturday December 6, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel; 2109 Moravian Falls Road, Moravian Falls, NC 28654. A Celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6, 2025 in the Adams Funeral Home of Wilkes Chapel. A Private burial will be held at a later date.

Speaker Tim Hartley will be officiating.

The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregivers, Autumn Hartley, Nancy Ferguson, Pam Mitchell, Betty Eller and all the neighbors and friends on the mountain for all their caring, love and support.

Mr. Wilson “Andrew” Bentley,58, of Boomer passed away on Saturday November 1, 2025 at his home.
Andrew was born on July 4, 1967 in Catawba County, NC to James Buddy Bentley and Lizzie Edward Davidson Bentley.
His kindness, generosity and love for his family and friends will remain in our hearts. Andrew enjoyed being outdoors, he spent time fishing, riding motorcycles and logging.
Andrew is preceded in death by his parents, James and Lizzie Bentley; son, Bruce Lee Bentley; brothers, James “Junior” Bently, Jerry D. Bentley, Clive Bentley; sisters, Lula “Diane” Clanton, Rosalee Johnson, Ella Bentley, Carleen Bentley.
Andrew is survived by his daughter, Monica Adams and husband, Chad of Millers Creek; brother, Lester Bentley and wife, Ruby of Taylorsville; grandchildren, Johnny and Lilly Adams of Millers Creek, many nieces, nephew and friends.
