Statement from Pearce Periodontics Regarding
Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)
The public health situation regarding Coronavirus or COVID-19 continues to evolve. The health and well-being of our patients and staff is our highest priority.
Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses, meaning they are one of the easiest viruses to kill with the appropriate disinfectant product. We use EPA-registered, hospital grade disinfectants to clean all operatories and surfaces, including the reception area. We also sterilize all dental instruments in an autoclave and use routine spore testing to ensure the efficacy of the sterilization process.
Our staff members also practice universal precautions including the use of single use masks, eye protection and gloves as recommended by the FDA and CDC.
These are some of the other steps we are taking in our office to also ensure patient and staff safety:
Screening patients and immediate family for international travel and checking for signs or symptoms of illness such as cough, fever or shortness of breath when confirming appointments and updating the medical history.
Using appropriate personal protective equipment for all procedures.
Cleaning and disinfecting public areas frequently, including door handles, chairs and bathrooms.
Encouraging social distancing (6 feet) and attempting to minimize time in the reception area.
Staff members will also be screened closely for any signs of illness such as cough, fever or shortness of breath and will not be in the office if they have any of these symptoms.
Pearce Periodontics will continue to follow American Dental Association and CDC guidelines and do our best to take care of our patient’s periodontal needs in a clean and safe environment.
