Don’t forget to wash your hands after playing, feeding, or cleaning up after animals. Our cute and fuzzy friends may be exposed to environmental germs and parasites that can make you sick. Even if the animal looks clean, it’s best to take precautions and wash your hands thoroughly to protect yourself and others.

Good handwashing habits can also prevent the spread of illness, like the flu. Make an appointment to schedule your flu vaccine by calling: 1-800-720-9553 or visit RUHealth.org.

🔸 What is Type 2 diabetes? 🔸
To use blood glucose (blood sugar) as energy, the body uses insulin. But with type 2 diabetes, the body doesn’t make enough insulin, use it well, or both—and the body’s cells can’t use blood glucose for the energy it needs. When blood glucose isn't used, and the blood glucose levels rise, it can cause serious problems.

🔸 What is Type 1 diabetes?🔸
People who have type 1 diabetes have a pancreas that does not produce insulin. It requires monitoring blood glucose levels and administering multiple daily insulin injections using a pen, syringe, or pump.

The good news? ➡️ Early detection and treatment of diabetes can decrease the risk of developing complications of diabetes. Get your blood sugar checked to help protect your future.
