🎉 Exciting News for Pharmacists in Kentucky! 🎉

We're thrilled to announce a major milestone for our pharmacy community. Following the recent signing of Kentucky House Bill 3, pharmacists in our state will now have the ability to bill Kentucky Medicaid for clinical services and procedures. This groundbreaking legislation, which will take effect this summer, allows pharmacists to be reimbursed for services beyond dispensing—services that are already billable by physicians, APRNs, and PAs—so long as they fall within the pharmacist’s scope of practice. While these services were already eligible for reimbursement through third-party payors, this now includes Medicaid.

Kudos to everyone who advocated for this change—this is a significant step forward for our profession. It strengthens the economic model for pharmacist-provided care and further positions pharmacists as essential members of the healthcare team. Please share this update with your preceptors and colleagues, as employers will increasingly look to integrate and expand this reimbursement model as practice continues to evolve.
