The WPCC Medical Assisting Program will be celebrating National Medical Assistants Recognition Week, October 17-21, 2022, as designated by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). Medical assistants across the country will be recognized during this special week and honored on Medical Assistants Recognition Day, October 19, 2022.

Medical assisting is an allied health profession whose practitioners function as members of the health care delivery team and perform administrative, clinical and laboratory procedures. In fact, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assisting continues to be one of the fastest growing occupations.

The AAMA is the premier organization serving the professional interests and educational needs of medical assistants. It provides numerous services that help medical assistants put their careers on a successful and rewarding track and keep them there.

Administrative Assistant position available at Morganton Internal Medicine
Busy two provider practice seeking full time front desk Administrative Assistant. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
● Welcoming patients for their appointments.
● Performing the initial registration for new patients and updating information for current patients, including demographic and insurance payment information, recording charges, collecting payments, assisting with appointments for medical imaging, scheduling all follow-up appointments, assisting patients with inquiries by phone or questions at the front desk.
● Daily balancing and submission of all receipts.
● Processing medical records faxes and medical record requests. Procuring medical records from the hospital website.
● Patient forms management and completion
Skills and Qualifications needed:

● Appropriate customer service skills and telephone etiquette, pleasant and helpful demeanor
● Basic familiarity with medical terms and technology
● Understanding of health care law and medical ethics
● Basic accounting and math skills
● Strong computer skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Salary: Based on work experience and skill level, medical office experience is preferred but not required. Generous benefits package, including health insurance, paid vacation, sick time, 401-k, etc.
Education: High school or equivalent
