The WV-INBRE Executive Committee / External Advisory Committee (EC/EAC) Meeting concluded successfully, bringing together leaders, investigators, core directors, and advisors for a productive day of discussion and planning.

🌟 Exciting Opportunity for WV-INBRE Students! 🌟

I’m thrilled to share that the WV-INBRE Puerto Rico Summer Research Exchange Program is now accepting applications for Summer 2026! 👩‍🔬🧪🧑‍🔬

This 9-week summer research experience offers WV-INBRE students the opportunity to conduct mentored biomedical research in Puerto Rico, participate in professional development activities, and engage in workshops and seminars. Participants will receive a $7,000 stipend, along with travel and housing support. ✈️🏠

🗓️ Program Duration: June – July 2026
📅 Application Deadline: End of business day, March 13, 2026

🎓 Eligibility: Full-time students enrolled at WV-INBRE network institutions (preference given to primarily undergraduate institutions).

SUMMER 2026
PAID BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY FOR WV HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE EDUCATORS

WV-INBRE program will provide funding for nine-week biomedical science research internship positions for WV high school science educators. A maximum of 5 internships will be available. HSTA teachers or teachers from HSTA-affiliated schools may be given preference in the selection process. Internships run from May 26 through July 28, 2026. Based on the high school’s academic calendar, start dates are flexible; however, employment dates end July 28, 2026. Compensation of $9,000 ($1000/week) will be provided for the full nine weeks, or $1000 for each 40 hour week worked. For more information, go to the WV-INBRE website at

WV-INBRE is pleased to announce its 2025 Summer Research Program. The program is nine weeks of research in the field of biomedical sciences. Interns will conduct mentored research projects at West Virginia University and Marshall University. Participants will receive formal research training while expanding their learning experience through workshops, seminars on current topics, mentoring and use of state-of-the-art core facilities. A stipend of $6,000 will be provided to each intern for the 9-week period. The application deadline is February 5, 2025.
