We had the honor of hosting Dr. Shaun Mendenhall, Division Head of Hand Surgery at the University of Utah, as our visiting professor!

A full morning of powerhouse teaching — from complex pediatric microsurgery to spasticity surgery, free functional muscle transfer, and so many more pearls across upper extremity reconstruction.

Dr. Mendenhall is as kind as he is brilliant, and we’re so grateful for the insight he shared. Huge thank-you to PolyNovo for sponsoring the dinner and supporting this memorable visit!

Another wonderful annual cleft picnic filled with sunshine, laughter, and whipped cream! ☀️🥧 We had an amazing day celebrating with our patients and families — great food, fun festivities, and of course, the always-anticipated pie-ing of our residents and faculty. It’s truly an honor to care for our incredible cleft and craniofacial patients and to share these joyful moments together each year. 💕

Kicking off our yearly Cadaver Lab Series with a full house! This morning’s focus: Head & Neck dissection with oversight by our craniofacial surgeons Drs. Uygur and Brooke.

We always start strong—carpooling in together (yes, all of us in one car!) and fueling up with a quick breakfast before diving into the lab.

Great hands-on teaching, even better teamwork. Let the series begin! 💪🧠

📢 New Publication Alert 🚨
As part of our ongoing efforts to critically evaluate and evolve our residency training, we took a comprehensive look at how integrated plastic surgery programs structure their rotations nationwide.

Our findings are now published in the Journal of Surgical Research:
“Comprehensive Rotation Analysis of Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency in the United States: Clarification of Rotation Metrics.”

By understanding national trends and variation — even within the framework of standardized guidelines — we aim to continually refine our own educational model.
