Spring has sprung at Camp Mitchell! 🌸 Recent rains have helped the plants bloom in this beautiful “thin place,” and the grounds are coming alive with new color.

This week we’re welcoming a quilting retreat, a youth group from Texas, and the Episcopal Men’s Retreat. It’s wonderful to see so many groups gathering for rest, fellowship, and renewal.

Dear friends of Camp Mitchell,

On behalf of the Search Committee, I am pleased to share that we have officially published the position of Executive Director for Camp Mitchell and have begun receiving applications.

Over the past several weeks, the position description has been developed through an intentionally collaborative and deeply thoughtful process. The Search Committee has worked closely with the Board of Directors, current staff, consulting partners through the Episcopal Camps and Conference Centers (ECCC), and many of Camp’s devoted supporters and stakeholders. Together, we have sought to articulate both the current needs of Camp Mitchell and the hopeful vision toward which God is calling us.

What has emerged is a role that reflects the breadth and vitality of Camp Mitchell today: overseeing operations, guiding staff, stewarding facilities, strengthening financial sustainability, helping position Camp Mitchell for continued growth and impact, all the while fostering its identity as an Episcopal camp and conference center and being a place of welcome to all. As the job description notes, Camp Mitchell stands at a particularly promising moment, with expanding summer programming, recent capital improvements, and early groundwork being laid for a future capital campaign.

We are especially grateful for the faithful leadership of the Rev. Greg Warren, who served as Acting Executive Director in 2025, and Cam Haag and Andy Duchossois, who have served Camp Mitchell in a number of different roles over several years, including as Summer Camp Directors. Their steady ministry has helped position Camp well for this transition. We should all be grateful for them.

Now, we invite your partnership in this search. Please help us spread the word widely and prayerfully. If you know of a strong candidate who may be called to this work, I encourage you to reach out directly or to share the posting. Applications are being received now and will continue through April 1, 2026, with the hope of announcing a new Executive Director this summer.

Camp Mitchell is entering a season of real momentum and possibility. The strength of its staff, the loyalty of its supporters, and the clarity of its mission give me great confidence about the road ahead. Most of all, we trust that God is already preparing the right leader for this moment in Camp’s life. Thank you for your prayers for Camp Mitchell, for the Board, for the staff, and for this search process.

Chris is one of our full-time team members who keeps camp running behind the scenes. From cooking up delicious meals in the kitchen to maintaining our beautiful grounds, he’s always hard at work making sure your time on the mountain is comfortable and memorable.
