Just a reminder, Dr. Maddox offers Advanced Vein Care Close to Home

At Morrison Community Hospital, patients no longer need to travel far for expert treatment of vein conditions. Ricky Maddox, MD, a skilled general surgeon, offers advanced, minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat a wide range of vein disorders—helping patients feel better, move more comfortably, and regain confidence.

Understanding Vein Disease
Vein conditions such as varicose veins and spider veins are more than just cosmetic concerns. They can cause symptoms like aching, swelling, heaviness, fatigue, and even skin changes or ulcers if left untreated. These issues often stem from venous insufficiency, a condition where veins have difficulty sending blood back to the heart.

Modern, Minimally Invasive Solutions
Dr. Maddox specializes in state-of-the-art vein procedures designed to be safe, effective, and convenient for patients. Many treatments are performed right here at Morrison Community Hospital and require little to no downtime.

To schedule an appointment with Dr. Maddox call 815-772-5511.

These are the heart-warming stories that capture our imagination. When our friend Gary Metivier told us he was going to produce a profile piece on a QCA athlete on the world stage-- we said count us in!

Born with serious health issues Kevin Mckee was determined not to let 'limitations' control his hopes and dreams. Right now he is in Italy competing for yet another gold medal with Team USA and Paralympic Games.

We think you will enjoy this. Find the full story in the comment section.

I was enjoying a cup of coffee with one of our long time hospital volunteers, Barry Linder. Barry mentioned that his granddaughter, 11 year old Karaline Linder, recently won a gold medal in tap dance. The article is below:

ANDOVER — Andover students from a local all-star dance team struck gold overseas at the International Dance Organization’s World Tap Championships last month.

The tap dancers traveled with the American Tap Company, out of North Andover, to Prague, Czech Republic, for the annual tap championships which took place from Oct. 22 to 26.

The IDO World Championships are considered the “Olympics of Dance,” according to the American Tap Company’s website.

More than 21 countries participated in the competition. The Boston Team USA took home nine medals, including seven gold medals.

The youngest gold-medal winners, the children’s formation, won for their dance “Hollywood Wiz,” choreographed by their coach, Nancy Chippendale.

There were 11 Andover students, ages 10 to 18, who competed during the championship. Andover kids representing Team USA included Karaline Linder, Matilda Melandri, Charlotte and Hadley Tedesco, Raya Angelova, Anya Champion, Kyle Lann, Logan Carlson, Bryanna King, Kathryn Barry and Abigail Bodnaruk.

Barry is SUCH a PROUD GRANDPA and he should be. We love to celebrate successes with one of our wonderful volunteers!

I have been remiss in posting a recognition that our CEO Pam Pfister received from the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network. She completed her year as president of the organization last fall. The mission of ICAHN is – and always has been – to strengthen critical access and small, rural hospitals through collaboration. Better together, ICAHN and its 60 member hospitals make it their overarching goal to preserve access to rural healthcare while improving the vibrancy and viability of the communities served. Executive Director Tracy Warner noted that she relied so much on Pam for support and feedback during her first year as director of the organization. Pam still serves as a valuable resource to ICAHN this year as past-president. We are so honored to have someone of Pam's leadership ability to lead Morrison Community Hospital to greater levels of patient care. Congratulations on a job well done Pam!
