I was enjoying a cup of coffee with one of our long time hospital volunteers, Barry Linder. Barry mentioned that his granddaughter, 11 year old Karaline Linder, recently won a gold medal in tap dance. The article is below:
ANDOVER — Andover students from a local all-star dance team struck gold overseas at the International Dance Organization’s World Tap Championships last month.
The tap dancers traveled with the American Tap Company, out of North Andover, to Prague, Czech Republic, for the annual tap championships which took place from Oct. 22 to 26.
The IDO World Championships are considered the “Olympics of Dance,” according to the American Tap Company’s website.
More than 21 countries participated in the competition. The Boston Team USA took home nine medals, including seven gold medals.
The youngest gold-medal winners, the children’s formation, won for their dance “Hollywood Wiz,” choreographed by their coach, Nancy Chippendale.
There were 11 Andover students, ages 10 to 18, who competed during the championship. Andover kids representing Team USA included Karaline Linder, Matilda Melandri, Charlotte and Hadley Tedesco, Raya Angelova, Anya Champion, Kyle Lann, Logan Carlson, Bryanna King, Kathryn Barry and Abigail Bodnaruk.
Barry is SUCH a PROUD GRANDPA and he should be. We love to celebrate successes with one of our wonderful volunteers!
