Raising kids is rewarding, but it’s also hard work!

Today was all about taking a well-deserved break at Kingpin Alley in South Glens Falls.

​BHSN's Family Support Services loved hosting an afternoon of bowling, pizza, and genuine connection.

Seeing families relax in a "no-judgment zone" where kids could be themselves is exactly why we do what we do.

BHSN at the Morrisonville location will operate remotely today, 12/29, due to severe weather. All staff who regularly report to this location should shift to working remotely today. In-person appointments will be shifted to telehealth. Home visits should be completed via telehealth or rescheduled. Transportation services are suspended. Crisis remains available. Updates will be posted on BHSN social media, and local news outlets.

A recent report found that 86% of mental health providers listed by insurers are "ghosts," they either don't exist or aren't available. This leaves families in crisis with nowhere to turn.

In anticipation of severe weather, BHSN at the Morrisonville, Queensbury, and Hudson Falls locations will shift to remote operations from 8am-10am on 12/29. In addition, BHSN at the Oval location will shift to remote operations from 8am-9am on this date. All staff who regularly report to these locations should shift to working remotely during the designated timeframe. In-person appointments will be shifted to telehealth. Plattsburgh isn't quite as far north as the North Pole, yet we had some elves at work in our office assembling "Together Totes." With a generous grant from The Foundation of CVPH, BHSN is launching a new initiative that aims to provide basic toiletry and seasonal items (hats, gloves & socks) to those in need in our community. The "Together Tote" Project specifically aims to support those in transition in our community, whether related to crisis mental health support, domestic violence, being unhoused or other difficult circumstances. We hope these small necessities will make a difference in the lives of everyone they reach. We were excited and humbled to make our first two deliveries along with the proceeds of our office food drive to the Joint Council for Economic Opportunity - JCEO and the Interfaith Food Shelf at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church. We are looking forward to continue getting these much-needed items into the hands of our community members.

Right now, a broken Medicaid managed care system is standing between New Yorkers and the mental health support they deserve.

BHSN is joining to advocate for a "carve out" of mental health and addiction services. By removing insurance middlemen, New York can save $400M annually, resources that should go directly to front-line care, not corporate profits.
