I spend a lot of time talking with my clients about how important it is to keep relationships fresh, and one of the best ways to do that is intentional date nights.
This Valentine’s Day and anniversary, my wife and I made it a priority to reconnect and have some fun together. We spent the evening in Knoxvile at the Relix Venue experiencing The Hanted Tavern. This unique experience featured four spooky stories, each paired with its own signature mixed drink. It was creative, a little scary, and a lot of fun.

As a bonus, the event was hosted by actor Thomas Ian Nicholas, and my wife even got to meet him. I plan to keep sharing these Practicing What I Teach moments to encourage others to invest time, energy, and intention into their partner.

Did you know that in the state of Tennessee, couples involved in a contested divorce are required to participate in mediation before proceeding to court? Mediation allows both parties to work toward resolution in a more private, respectful, and cost-effective environment.

Many people are surprised to learn that mediation isn’t limited to attorneys. In fact, other professionals, such as therapists, counselors, and accountants, can also become Rule 31 listed mediators, bringing unique perspectives and specialized skills to the process.

Traditionally, attorney-led mediation can cost between $200–$300 per hour, which can quickly add up. At True U Counseling Group, we believe that access to peaceful resolution shouldn’t create additional financial strain. Our Rule 31–certified mediators offer professional, compassionate mediation services at approximately half the traditional rate, helping clients navigate life’s most difficult transitions with clarity, respect, and understanding.
