David Bothfeld
(Kidney Donor Wanted)
Healthy and strong until kidney disease was discovered, David Bothfeld continues to work hard, though the challenges of the disease have slowed him down. This amazing man continues to run a greenhouse business with the help of his wife, and even though he is increasingly exhausted, he never rests. But each day is harder.
David has been on dialysis, but it is like running a marathon as he pushes through pain and shortness of breath. It has stressed his heart tremendously and he is generally exhausted, but he has an ungodly will to live.
A truly nice and easy going guy, people (animals, too!) are automatically drawn to David but now he needs your help
If saving the quality and quantity of a life interests you, David is a perfect candidate for you to help. As much as dialysis allows a kidney patient to live, it does only 30% of what a normal kidney would do. A normal life can be restored by getting a donation of a kidney from a living donor and David desperately needs a kidney.
You don't have to match him. Through the "kidney swap" any healthy person can donate a kidney into a "pool" which is matched with other donations in the same pool to achieve the match that person needs. It is illegal to coerce or offer payment for a kidney donation. It must be of your own accord. In order to find out if you can participate, you would contact Cathy Pratt, senior transplant coordinator at Dartmouth Solid Organ Transplant at 1-603-653-3931 or email dhmctransplant@hitchcock.org
