Due to the recent declaration of a national emergency by the CDC and California Governor Newsom, we are NOT providing non-essential or routine services until after April 17th. Please be patient as we are receiving new guidelines daily and will keep you updated as this time frame may change.

We will have reduced office hours from March 17th – April 17th. Our hours of operation will be Monday-Friday from 9 am until 12 pm only.

Services that will be available during this time of limited hours are:

• Medical emergencies with appointment only
• Curbside dispensing of current pending orders
• Phone services
• Direct shipping of contact lenses. We will extend prescriptions as needed if expired within the last 6 months.

If you are having an after-hours emergency, Dr. Smart can be reached at 805.225.7129

The decision to limit our services was not taken lightly as a medical office and as a small business. The well-being of our patients and staff remain a top priority. We urge everyone to do their part in social distancing to minimize the spread of this virus.

Thank you for your patience.
We hope you remain in good health.

As healthcare providers, it is important for us to address the pandemic at hand. Our number one priority is to safeguard the health and well being of our patients and staff. As a result, we are asking patients to consider the following guidelines and note the call to action we are implementing in our office:

*If you have any of the symptoms listed below, please note that we will kindly ask you to reschedule your routine appointment as a precaution. COVID-19 symptoms are similar to the cold or flu, and may take up to 14 days to appear after exposure to the virus. Be vigilant as severe cases may lead to pneumonia, kidney failure or death.
Mild symptoms may include:

• Fever
• Headache
• Runny Nose & Sneezing
• Cough & Sore Throat
• Difficulty Breathing
• Muscle Pain & Weakness
• Chills & Fatigue

*If you are over the age of 60, have any auto-immune issues; consider rescheduling any non-emergent appointments as you may fall into a higher risk category.
*If you are in good health and need eye care, we will continue to provide services and have enacted a strict sterilization process of the office between patients.
*The doctor and staff will enact a minimal contact policy with patients. Please do not be offended if we do not shake hands.
*We encourage all patients to pick up any pending optical items in the office the next coming days in anticipation of any need for possible widespread quarantine.
*We encourage patients to place orders as soon as possible to avoid possible delays as distribution centers and laboratories may be impacted in the near future.

Please keep in perspective that for the majority of people this condition will likely come and go without any issues. However, as a community our main focus is keeping those most vulnerable safe; our parents, children, friends, colleagues who may have immune compromise. With this in mind, over action rather than under action is the appropriate course of action. Please stay safe.
