Gloria Capek Foundation Due to the irresponsible actions of 2 teams, we will not have an event this year. You have prevented thousands from being donated to help women. Happy?

Our foundation is devoted to and named after our mother who passed away from Breast Cancer 12 years ago. While she had the finest of care it was very frustrating for our family that we couldn’t do more. We decided to find a way to help other families to not go through what our mother did. She went through countless surgeries including a double mastectomy and a bone marrow transplant. Immediately after major surgery, she saw us and her first words were, “did you kids eat?” She was still more concerned about others than herself during these times.

Due to the irresponsible actions of two teams, we will not be having a tournament this year. You, and you alone have caused thousands of dollars to not be donated to help save the lives of women with breast cancer. Not just women I know, women YOU know. Because you will know someone affected by this. Think about that when you see your mom, wife, sister or daughter.

It's really sad that 25 people can ruin an event for thousands of participants and an a wonderful cause.

To those thousands of responsible people who followed the park district and tournament rules, thank you for 15 years of great fundraising, friendship and competition. I made the tournament, YOU made it great!
