Families who have a child with a disability have a very strong sense of purpose, love, and commitment. This motivates them to ensure that their child’s needs are met: from advocacy to personal care to medical services that far exceed those of other children. Most families reach a POINT in their LIFE and the LIFE of their child when they realize that they cannot continue to meet all of their needs. These families go through a great deal of soul searching to come to the POINT in which they are ready to request services for the person in their LIFE with a disability. All people age and have needs that change. At new POINTS in their LIFE, they need different services. In order to meet these needs, we have multiple facilities and POINTS of service – from small group homes in the community to larger facilities with continuous nursing care. We believe that we are called to serve others and POINT to God and not to self. We believe that honoring each LIFE, regardless of ability or skills, is honoring God’s teachings about LIFE and brings Him glory.

This Thanksgiving, before you sit around eating turkey and more, I want you to take a minute and think about what you’re grateful for. I’m thankful that I have shelter to live in. I’m thankful for our country being watched over by God. I’m thankful for the aides at Timber Ridge that take care of me. And I’m especially thankful that I am a child of God. is one week away! On Tuesday, December 2nd, AC LifePoints will be collecting donations for a complete kitchen renovation at Oakwood Estate, and this renovation will cost $120,000! To track the donations throughout this national day of giving, we will be stacking plates to represent every $1,000 donated. Our friend, Liz, celebrated her 20th anniversary of working at Culver's yesterday! What an accomplishment! Liz is such a dedicated employee, and we are thankful that our local Culver's has been a place for her to thrive these past 20 years! Congratulations Liz!

This , we're cooking up something special! Our friends at Oakwood have always loved to cook, no matter who was living there. But their kitchen has been the same since we first opened Oakwood Estate in 1988 - dishwasher and all! So on Tuesday, December 2nd, we are raising funds for Oakwood's Kitchen Renovation - make sure you mark your calendars! More info to come!

We were blessed to host 23 of our LifePoints Church Reps last week for a day full of facility tours and informational sessions (including first-hand experiences shared by some of our residents). These Church Reps serve as liaisons between AC LifePoints and the different AC Congregations throughout the country - they help communicate our needs with the church, share volunteer opportunities, and keep LifePoints connected with their church family! We're so thankful for the role they play, and we loved getting to show them the spaces and the people that they help support!
