W. Jack Burch, 91, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Moulton Church of Christ. The funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Moulton Church of Christ with O.D. Bowling and Brad McNutt officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Born on August 26, 1934, to Walter and Sallie Smith Burch. Jack was raised on the family farm in Moulton. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy and then continued his education at Auburn University where he earned his degree in 1956. Jack then served his country in the Navy until 1961. He served on a submarine, on ships, and spent his final two years of service as a professor passing on his knowledge of navigation to students at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He returned to Moulton in 1961 to work the dairy farm and later worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service from which he retired in 1999. Jack was a lifelong member of the Moulton Church of Christ where he served as an elder for 50 years and taught adult bible classes. He enjoyed reading, studying history, card games, crossword puzzles, sporting events, gardening, and was a master of stained glass.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Gayle Pettus Burch; children, Jackie (Belinda) Burch, Meg (Tom) Payne, Bobby (Tonya) Burch; grandchildren, Forrest (Hayden) Burch, Sallie Beth Burch, Nathan (Kala) Payne, Emily (Bobby) Williams, Coleman Burch, and Brylee Burch; great-grandchildren, Galloway Burch, Thompson Burch, and Landon Wright; sister, Mary Alice Wynn; nieces and nephews, Bonnie Kazepis, Gloria Davis, Robert Burch, Beth DeFour, Becky Wilkenson, and Barbara Munson.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sallie Burch; and brother, Walt G. Burch.

Pallbearers will be Keith Balch, Robert Burch, Randy Bowerman, Mitchell Compton, Scotty Evans, Clinton Hardin, Stanley Johnson, and Loyd Rutherford.

Honorary pallbearers are his grandsons, Forrest Burch, Nathan Payne, and Coleman Burch.

Bobby Petruna, 60, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Hollis Retherford and Bro. Larry Dyar officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Born on March 10, 1966, to Amy and Archie Webb. Bobby graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1984 where he met his high school sweetheart and married her. He was a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church. Bobby was the greatest salesman to walk the face of the Earth. He was excited to open "Slice City" in Decatur with his son which will be opened soon in his honor. Bobby was a loving husband, father, and Paw and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Pam Petruna; children, Kody (Candace) Petruna and Sasha (Shane) Rogers; grandchildren, Aaden Petruna, Marshall Rogers, Gracie Petruna, Conner Rogers, Annie Rogers, and Ellie Rogers; sisters, Theresa Petruna and Maria (Bryan) Retherford; mother-in-law, Linda Woodruff; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Amy and Archie Webb; father-in-law, Tony Woodruff; brother-in-law, Mark Woodruff, and nephew, Josh Kelso.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Corum, Larry Kennett, Kevin Robinson, Leon Starr, Ken Jett, Ronald "Runt" Mayes, Warren King, and Bird Young.

Francisco Mercado, 64, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, Parkway Campus. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, March 30, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Kenny Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Midway Memorial Garden.

Born on December 30, 1961, to Alonso and Esther Guerra Mercado. Francisco was a hard working man, who often joked that he would continue working after retirement, and was an electrician for Goss Electric for 22 years. He enjoyed watching westerns, and football and would "go for the winning team," as he said. Francisco was always happy go lucky, a friend to everyone he met, and would be whistling everywhere he went. He moved to the United States at a young age to build a better life for his family through blood, sweat, and tears. He had dreams of having a "rancho" and homesteading, but now he gets to take care of his rancho in Heaven.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Isidra Mercado; mother, Esther Mercado; children, Yesenia (Victor) Mercado, Jesus (Yer) Mercado, and Francisco Mercado Jr.; grandchildren, Victor and Gabriel Lara; sisters, Amada and Isabel Mercado; brothers, Alonso, Rodolfo, Isidro, Fidencio, and Ramiro Mercado; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Francisco was preceded in death by his father, Alonso Mercado; and brother, Eduardo Mercado.

Pallbearers will be Victor Lara Hernandez, Jesus Mercado, Francisco Mercado Jr., Isidro Mercado, Ramiro Mercado, and Oscar Mercado.

Born on October 20, 1951, to James and Catherine Wiley Hamilton. Brenda enjoyed spending time with her grandbabies and family. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nanny B and will be greatly missed.

George Nathaniel Alexander, 84, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Friday, March 20, 2026 at his residence. Born on November 16, 1941 to Guy and Lou Proctor Alexander, George attended East Lawrence schools. He enjoyed church revivals and benefit singing. Georges hobbies included playing board and card games with his family, gardening, building and creating things. He found great joy in spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, and swimming. Above all George was a loving family man and friend, he found great joy in helping others and enjoying a cup of coffee with his late neighbor Wallace and his son Jeff.

Survivors include his children, Sheree (Christian Paddon) Alexander, Chris (Samantha) Alexander; grandchildren, Eli Alexander, Dakota Alexander, Addison Alexander, Kell Logan, Frances Logan; sisters, Linda (William) McDonald; brothers, Jimmy (Janice) Alexander, Ray (Janie) Alexander; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

George was preceded in death by his father, Guy Alexander; mother, Lou Proctor; brother, Arnold Alexander; brother, Farris Alexander; brother, Wayne Alexander; sister, Estelle Nelson; grandson; Joseph Alexander; nephew, David Alexander; nephew, Micah White; great-nephew, Brandon Turka; niece, Wendy Waldrop; nephew, Joey Alexander.

Donald Eugene Layman, 80, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at his residence. The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Moulton Church of Christ with Jonathan Layman officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Born on July 7, 1945, to Donald and Irene Garrison Layman, he spent his youth in Cleveland, Ohio. Don attended Lipscomb University and then began his teaching career in Lawrence County in 1967. He was an educator for 42 years in the Lawrence County School system, Mars Hill Bible School, and administrator at Tri County Bible School. Don was passionate about teaching and enjoyed mentoring students. Don loved the Lord's Church, evangelism, and ministering to others. He was very knowledgeable about scripture and was an excellent Bible class teacher and preacher. Don was minister at Landersville Church of Christ for 37 years and was currently a member at Moulton Church of Christ where he was serving as deacon of missions. He cared deeply for his family and was affectionately known to his grandchildren as Papa. Don was a pillar in the community, the Church, and his family.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Donna Layman; children, Ginger (John) Davis, Wendi (Carl) Morgan, and Jonathan (Jamie) Layman; grandchildren, Garrison Davis, Paul Morgan, Mary Helen Morgan, Sam Morgan, Pruitt Layman, and Nella Layman; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Irene Layman.

Pallbearers will be John Davis, Garrison Davis, Pruitt Layman, Rayburn Glenn, Michael Warren, Tyler Heaton, Eddie Heaton, and Larkin Heaton.

Born on May 7, 1962, to James White and Jessica Roberts , Jimmy was a local brick mason and an over the road 18-wheeler truck driver for 40 plus years. He enjoyed going to Jake's Drag Strip, working on his muscle cars, grilling, riding his Harley, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his children, Sharon Johnson, Samantha (James) Johnson, Nicholas White, and Kimberly (Bradley) Terry; grandchildren, Brooklyn Johnson, Zachary (Tori) Terry, Michael Terry, Camryn Terry, and Paislee Terry; great-grandchild, Emersyn Terry; brother, Jason White; step-mother, Annette White; his dogs, Bella and Dodge Ram; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Lisa Osborn White; father, James White; mother, Jessica Stazer; grandmother, Maw Maw B; and sister, Charlsie Hinton-Roberts.

Leldon Eugene Lacey entered this world on March 30, 1970 to Curtis Eugene Lacey and Nolie Laverne Waugh Thompson. He departed for his Heavenly Reward on March 12, 2026. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Son Rise Fellowship Church in Moulton. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the church with Bro. Mike Draper and Pastor Donnie McDonald officiating. Burial will be at Smyrna Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Leldon Lacey is survived by his wife of 30 years, Parlissa; his children, Colina Lacey Moyers, Todd Lacey, and Dillon Lacey; his very special niece, Halona Flatt; grandchildren, Shayla Moyers, Raylon Moyers, Charlie McCarley, Lilly Lacey, Marcus Lacey, Bentley Lacey, Keelan Lacey, and Asher Lacey; sisters, Tammy (Brady) Flanagan, Mary Lacey, and Amy Lacey; brother, David Lacey; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Leldon was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Eugene Lacey and his granddaughter, Jennifer McCarley.

Leldon wore many hats and among his favorites were Daddy, Husband, Pawpaw, Brother, Son, Friend and most importantly was dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord. He was always praying for others and was never afraid to share the Gospel. He will be truly missed at family gatherings, as he was always the first to step up and pray over our family and bless the meal before we ate.

Leldon had many hobbies that he loved throughout his life. From an early age, he enjoyed arrowhead hunting with his Daddy. He was proud to be self-taught on the guitar and loved playing whenever he could. He also had a knack for mechanic work and could fix just about anything. Fishing was another favorite pastime, and he spent many peaceful days casting a line in the lake behind his home.

Leldon had a special love for animals, and his yard was always full of chickens. If you were an animal-dog, cat, horse, or even a flying squirrel-Leldon's house was the place to be, because he always made sure you were cared for.

He was a friend to everyone and truly never met a stranger. Leldon was the kind of person you could call anytime, and if he was able to help, he would be right there.

The family would like to express their gratitude for all the prayers and calls during this difficult time.

Born on November 11, 1928 to the late George and Betsy Reeser Reagan, Ruby graduated Valedictorian from Lawrence County High School in 1949. She was a charter member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and a faithful member of the choir. Ruby enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball and golf, gardening, praying, and reading her Bible. She also loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Brandy) Waits, and Virginia "Jenny" (Dale) Sutton; grandchildren, Susie (Josh) Smith, Lora (Lee) Smith, Nathan Waits, Teri (Brian) Stafford, Cari (Corey) Reed, Derek (Mackenzie) Sutton, and Neely Waits; great-grandchildren, Austen Stafford, Braden Stafford, Carter Reed, Carsen Reed, Dayton Sutton, Maylee Sutton, Peyton Waldrep, Lane Smith, Landen Smith, Avery Waits, Cooper Waits, and Felicity Robinson; great-great grandchildren, Amayiah Nesby and Amiri Nesby; special family, Jamie (Brandon) Raney and Perrin, Dr. Rex (Beth) Tuckier and Elijah; her Pilgrim Church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Henry Waits; parents; son, Bobby Waits; grandsons, Bobby "BJ" Waits, Jr., and Matthew Waits; sisters, Minnie Goodlett, Roxie Goodlett, Maudie Suggs, Rettie Underwood, and Mary Oshia Goodlett; brothers, Thomas Reagan, and Roy Reagan.
