Ruby Guinn Waits

Ruby Guinn Waits, 97, of Mount Hope, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 11, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the church with Bro. Redmond Talley officiating. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on November 11, 1928 to the late George and Betsy Reeser Reagan, Ruby graduated Valedictorian from Lawrence County High School in 1949. She was a charter member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church and a faithful member of the choir. Ruby enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball and golf, gardening, praying, and reading her Bible. She also loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Richard (Brandy) Waits, and Virginia "Jenny" (Dale) Sutton; grandchildren, Susie (Josh) Smith, Lora (Lee) Smith, Nathan Waits, Teri (Brian) Stafford, Cari (Corey) Reed, Derek (Mackenzie) Sutton, and Neely Waits; great-grandchildren, Austen Stafford, Braden Stafford, Carter Reed, Carsen Reed, Dayton Sutton, Maylee Sutton, Peyton Waldrep, Lane Smith, Landen Smith, Avery Waits, Cooper Waits, and Felicity Robinson; great-great grandchildren, Amayiah Nesby and Amiri Nesby; special family, Jamie (Brandon) Raney and Perrin, Dr. Rex (Beth) Tuckier and Elijah; her Pilgrim Church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Henry Waits; parents; son, Bobby Waits; grandsons, Bobby "BJ" Waits, Jr., and Matthew Waits; sisters, Minnie Goodlett, Roxie Goodlett, Maudie Suggs, Rettie Underwood, and Mary Oshia Goodlett; brothers, Thomas Reagan, and Roy Reagan.

Pallbearers will be Ruby's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons.

The family extends special thanks to the staff at NHC Moulton, especially Dr. Rex Tuckier as well as Sarah Huff and the nurses and staff at Southern Care New Beacon Hospice.

Donald Eugene Smith, 72, of Town Creek, Alabama passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at North Alabama Medical Center. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Donald Kidd, Rickey Johnson, and Denon McMillan officiating. Burial will be at Fergason Cemetery.

Born on September 2, 1953, to Hayse and Etoil Butler Smith, Donald enjoyed hunting, tending to his cows, taking family vacations, and watching his grandchildren play ball. Above all he was a hard working man who loved his family, and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Joyce Smith; daughters, Tammy (Kevin) Montgomery and Tannette (Ryan) Brackin; grandchildren, Tevin (Erin) Montgomery, Tayden Montgomery, Owen Brackin, Anahayse Brackin, and Layla Mae Brackin; and extended family.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Hayse and Etoil Smith.

Pallbearers will be Tevin Montgomery, Tayden Montgomery, Owen Brackin, Jamie Dotson, Adam McVay, and Brock Dotson.

Donna Jean Ligon Thomas, 75, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026. The memorial service will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Lawrence Funeral Home with Andrew King officiating.

She was born on July 18, 1950, to Dan and Maree England Ligon.

Survivors include her husband Charles Thomas; son, Ben (Donna) Sams; step-children, Pudden Watkins, Lauree (Ronnie) Stapp; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Danny (Joel Ward) Wiley and Debbie (Andrew) King; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Maree Ligon; sons, Bradly and Brett Sams.

Laconia Lee Kirby, 97, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Hendrix Health and Rehab in Double Springs. The graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Smyrna Cemetery with Rev. Larry Joe Corum officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Born on December 15, 1928 to the late Leonard and Ruthie Harris Corum, Laconia enjoyed sewing and especially spending time with her family. Remembered as a hard worker and the best mom in the world, she will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Hutto, and Frankie "Buddy" (Donna Kay) Hutto; granddaughters, Latasha Hutto, Lekisha Hutto, and Anna Marie Hutto; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Laconia was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Kirby; parents; and three sisters, and four brothers.

Pallbearers will be Frankie "Buddy" Hutto, Brannon Davis, Ryan Hill, and Ray Anderson.

The family extends special thanks to all of Laconia's nurses and the staff at Hendrix Health and Rehab, everyone who took the time to pay their respects to Mrs. Laconia, and Lawrence Funeral Home for their assistance.

Born on October 13, 1930 to Travis and Elizabeth Horton Lipscomb, Hazel enjoyed spending time with her family. She found great joy in spending time at the farmers market selling her vegetables. She loved to cook for her family, and spend time in her garden tending to her flowers and vegetables.

Survivors include her Daughter, Gloria (Carlus) Hall; sisters, Evelene (Charles) Teague, Helen (Joe Mack) Terry; brother, Farrell (Beverly) Lipscomb; sister-in-law, Betty Sue Lipscomb; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Friday, March 06, 2026 at Moulton Church of Christ. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM at Moulton Church of Christ with Jonathan Layman officiating. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.

Beulah was born on May 10, 1928 to Elbert and Lora Bogle Bowman. Beulah was a lifetime member of Moulton Church of Christ. Beulah loved God and her greatest joy was spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Rayburn (Bobbie) Glenn, Donna (Don) Layman, Sandra (Michael) Warren and Sarah Heaton; 12 grandchildren, ; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Beulah was preceded in death by her spouse, Joe Glenn; father, Elbert Bowman; mother, Lora Bogle Bowman; daughter; Keri Speakman, and grandson, Chad Lee Glenn.

Born on September 26, 1942 to the late Wallace and Hattie Mitchell Mansell, Luree enjoyed fishing and playing Bingo. She also loved to garden and spending time with her family.

Born on November 27, 1955, to Arlie and Lois Vick Way, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, and driving his 18 wheeler. He loved his family and will be greatly missed!

Survivors include his wife Tracy Way; sons, Jeremy Way and Clint Way; sister, Sharon Way; and extended family.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Lois Way; brother, Danny Way.

It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Wylie D. Smith, 80, of Moulton, AL who passed away at his residence on February 19,2026.

The family will host a private celebration of life.

Wylie was born in Moulton, AL on June 2, 1945 to Delmer F Smith and Icey Evelyn Bumgart Smith.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Letha Hodge Smith; brother Arley Smith, sister Bobbie Decatur; and granddaughter Taylan Smith.

He is survived by his children Paula Shelton, Eric Smith, and Jamie Smith; sister Linda Gail Rutherford; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Enhabit Hospice for their care and help during this difficult time.
