Meet Dr. Allyson Pel!

We’re excited to spotlight Dr. Pel, one of our residents at Georgia South Family Medicine! She completed her undergraduate studies at Davidson College, earned a graduate degree from Wake Forest University, and attended medical school at PCOM–Georgia before choosing Moultrie for her residency training. With a heart for rural medicine and a connection to PCOM’s South Georgia campus, Georgia South felt like the perfect place to continue her journey!

Her passion for healthcare began at a young age, inspired by watching her grandmother face frequent illness and wanting to better understand disease while caring for others during vulnerable moments. She says the strong sense of community and supportive culture at Georgia South made her decision easy! Dr. Pel especially loves the hands-on training and mentorship she receives, which supports her strong interest in procedures and comprehensive patient care. Family medicine allows her to care for patients of all ages, bringing variety, purpose, and connection to every day!

Today, we pause to reflect on our commitment to serving others and to celebrate the enduring legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a true champion of equality and justice. We honor his life and the profound impact he made in the fight for civil rights.

“Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?'” -Martin Luther King, Jr.

Meet Dylan Patel, MD!

Dr. Patel is a PGY-1 resident with us at Georgia South Family Medicine, and he’s excited to call Moultrie home! He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and completed medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine.

Dr. Patel was drawn to medicine by his passion for service and the opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives. He chose Georgia South for its strong sense of community, supportive faculty, and hands-on training in rural healthcare. Through a wide variety of patient experiences, Dr. Patel is preparing for a future in full-spectrum family medicine—focused on prevention, building long-term relationships, and staying actively involved in the community!

Dr. Kayla Batchelor is the Associate Program Director, clinic director, and women’s health lead for our residency program, as well as a proud graduate who chose to stay because “this place feels like home!” She is passionate about teaching—especially guiding interns through the ALSO course each year and helping residents grow their confidence in pediatric care.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Batchelor enjoys beach trips, Disney adventures, and cheering on her daughters, Baylor and Oakley, at their various activities. She and her husband Collin are also excitedly preparing to welcome baby #3 soon👶🎉 The supportive culture, shared mission, and opportunity to train the next generation of family medicine physicians made staying at her home program an easy choice!
