Breastfeeding helps reduce the risk of SIDS, asthma, diabetes, and obesity — conditions that Black infants face at disproportionately higher rates. For moms, it lowers the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and breast cancer.

Despite these benefits, barriers like limited access, healthcare bias, and lack of support contribute to lower breastfeeding rates within the Black community.

Black Breastfeeding Week is dedicated to changing this narrative through education, celebration, and community-driven care.
