At Georgia South Family Medicine Residency Program, we believe education is one of the most powerful tools in improving maternal health outcomes.
Black women in the United States are more than 2-3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes and face significantly higher rates of complications. These statistics are real, but they are not unchangeable. Many of these outcomes are preventable with early care, patient education, and access to the right resources!
Through our residency program, we are committed to training the next generation of physicians to deliver compassionate, informed, and equitable care. By equipping our residents with the knowledge, awareness, and skills to better support black mothers, we can help reduce disparities and improve outcomes for families in our community.
Because when mothers are informed, supported, and heard, healthier futures beginโค๏ธ
