Education Time:
"Masseur" = French term for a Male who gives massages (professional or otherwise.)
"Masseuse" = French term for a Female who gives massages (professional or otherwise.
C.M.T. = Certified Massage Therapist. This means you went to an accredited massage school, and completed the training and passed the testing and were issued a Certificate of Diploma. This has to do with your training.
* I am a "Certified Massage Therapist". 👍😎 and this is what I need to practice Massage Therapy in city I work in.
L.M.T. = Licensed Massage Therapist. This is a permit granted by a governing entity based upon a specific location (State, County, City, etc.) Not all locations require this permit. The State of Minnesota doesn't issue a State level permit. Some, but not all, Minnesota cities have codes on the books that require the issuance of a License / "permit".
* In the past, I applied for and paid the fee and was issued a License to conduct / be employed as a Massage Therapist in the City of Plymouth. So, for a short period of time, I was a "Licensed Massage Therapist". I no longer work in Plymouth, so, I let that license expire.
R.M.T. = Registered Massage Therapist. In many case, used interchangeably with the licensing process. Some Countries / Governing entities outside the U.S. prefer the term "registration" over "licensing".
