Meet your Gastro provider!

Tom Orli, MD, has been with the Northern Gastroenterology team for 12 years.

When it comes to inspiration, Dr. Orli said, "I’ve always been driven to help people. Gastroenterology allows me to solve complex problems while also working with my hands, and I value being able to care for our patients right here in our community.”

Colonoscopies are one of the most common procedures Gastroenterologists do, and for good reason. "Colonoscopy is unique among screening tests. It not only detects cancer early, but it can also prevent cancer by removing precancerous growths called polyps. Average-risk adults should begin screening at age 45. Those at increased risk may need screening at 40 or earlier,” said Dr. Orli.

While he understands the discomfort a patient may feel about this type of procedure, Dr. Orli wants to ease his patient's fears; "Afterward, most patients tell me, ‘That was easier than I thought,’ Best nap ever,’ or ‘It’s already over?' The procedure takes about 20 minutes every 5-10 years, but colon cancer can affect the rest of your life.”
