For patients with neurodevelopmental disorder such as , and , NCBI offers the convenience of online neuropsychological testing that can be completed from the patient’s home.

The assessment process begins with an intake to review the patient’s history, symptoms and deficits and an initial exam.

After these procedures are completed, the patient will meet with a neuropsychometrist to complete cognitive and psychological testing. The technician will download an application on your computer or tablet so that the testing can be completed without any internet delays. Similar to in-clinic testing, the test results are compared a normative reference database of individuals matching the patient’s age, gender, and education level.

Non-invasive Brain Stimulation (NIBS) for chronic pain comprises interventions such as transcranial magnetic (TMS) and direct current stimulation (tDCS) repeating these interventions usually for several sessions to mitigate pain.

Other forms of NIBS such as tACS, tRNS and high as well as low frequency ultrasound have also been studied, but most of the research thus far has been done with high-frequency rTMS and tDCS.

Collectively, the reduction in the severity of pain is generally 30-50% for patients with neuropathic pain including fibromyalgia.

Q: Why is neuromodulation enhancement used in cognitive and language rehabilitation in patients who have had strokes or traumatic brain injuries?

A: The average treatment efficacy of cognitive rehabilitation across patients with acquired and traumatic brain injury is about 1/3 of a standard deviation. This means if a patient’s overall cognitive abilities fell in the mild impairment range, cognitive rehabilitation may be able to lessen that level of impairment to the very mild to mild impairment range above and beyond natural recovery. Using neuromodulation enhancement, can increase the treatment effect size to 1 or 2 standard deviations by improving the fluid cognitive functions of processing and psychomotor speed, attention, encoding, learning, retrieval and executive functioning. A patient with moderate impairment who makes a 2 standard deviation gain would fall within the average range of functioning.
