We are saddened by the passing of Jo Ann Maguire.

Jo Ann enjoyed spending time visiting with others and getting to know those around her here at the nursing home. She could often be found reading a good book, proudly taking part in our book club group or putting together a jigsaw puzzle in her room. Jo Ann was especially fond of her family, speaking of them often and holding them close in her heart. Her quiet presence, thoughtful conversations, and love of learning will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this time. May the memories of her 97 years bring peace to all who knew her. 🕊️

We extend our condolences to the family and friends of Merry Ann Swank.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Merry Ann had a true zest for life and a caregiver’s soul that shined throughout her life. We often reminisced about her years as a caregiver and the time she spent driving the bus—stories that reflected her strong work ethic and deep compassion for others. Even as a resident, Merry Ann was always looking for ways to help, frequently offering a hand when she saw staff working nearby.

Her kindness, willingness to serve, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time. 🕊️

🦃 Thanksgiving RSVP Reminder 🦃

If you plan to join your loved one here for Thanksgiving dinner, please remember to RSVP with the number of guests you’ll be bringing. This helps our kitchen staff plan and prepare enough food for everyone to enjoy a wonderful holiday meal together as well as prepare enough spaces to sit.

Simply call the facility and let our staff know as soon as possible.

Our hearts are heavy as we remember Doug Prime, who spent a short time with us here at Mount Ayr Health Care Center. Though his stay was short, his kindness and gentle spirit left a lasting impression.

Many of us also knew him from his years of service with the Kellerton Ambulance, where he gave countless hours helping others. He was a big guy with an even bigger heart — a true teddy bear who was always ready to lend a hand or share a smile.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, LaDonna, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. ❤️

🎃 Don’t forget — we’ll be set up in the lobby tonight for all the trick-or-treaters to stop by and show off their costumes. It’s always such a fun and heartwarming evening, and our residents look forward to it every year. 💛

🎃👻 Trick-or-Treat at MAHCC! 👻🎃

Due to football playoffs, the Trick-or-Treat night for Mount Ayr has been rescheduled to Saturday, November 1st!

Our residents can’t wait to see all the little ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and princesses come through the lobby. 🧙‍♀️🍬 They’ll be ready to hand out treats from 5:30–7:00 p.m., so bring your candy bags and your best costumes!

It’s always a fun and heartwarming evening for everyone — we hope to see you there! 💛
