Today one of our amazing volunteers brought her very sweet girl, Charlie, for a visit. The residents were full of smiles while this ball of love made her way around 🫶

Thank you, we all hope to see Charlie again soon!

Congratulations to Employee of the Month and Star of the Month of March!

Getting employee of the month was a complete surprise to me- and all I will say is I appreciate all of the families, residents, caregivers, med techs, nurses, and management that I deal with daily. You all are helping me find my way as an adult and individual and my one goal is to make sure everyone is happy, safe, and having fun. It looks like I’ve done my job, thank you all.

As for our star of the month Nicholas, let me just say he is exceptional. My dad always says “Do things fast but RIGHT” and he is a prime example. He is very dedicated, kind, intelligent, and funny. He brings such a good energy to staff and residents alike. Keep up the good work Nicholas, it’s been a pleasure to work along side you.

Pot O Gold Experiments:

For St. Patrick’s Day, we decided to incorporate rainbows in a new way- with science!

Methods: In 5 flasks put baking soda, various food coloring, and in 2 of the 5 out gold shimmer. The way it works is the resident pick 1 out of the 5 flasks, you add white vinegar to it and mix. When it bubbles, if there’s gold then they “struck gold” and get gold chocolate coins. If not, that’s okay too! Everyone still got a bracelet for St. Patrick’s Day ☘️!

As you can hear- this one resident thought the experiment was “bubbly”!

Today we had app developers come by Meadows to tell us about iCroaked.

Basically: if you have an Apple device, you can help your family member / friend write any final messages they’d like to write before they pass, on their own time, and select who they’d like to send it to. Then all you have to do is at the time of their passing, go into the app and press “send” and you’re done!

The creator of the app is Ralph Richardson- he’s 82 and he wanted to create an app to offer some kind words of comfort to loved ones after someone passes. He said he wished he knew who to contact after his sister passed, and something like this app would’ve helped him.

Thank you Ralph for showing us that technological advancements can be created and utilized by people in all phases of life!

Over this week I have been creating a network of volunteers so even more activities can take place! Today we had some dog therapy with 5 year old Koa, the residents really enjoyed him and he brightened their day.

Special thank you to the volunteers who made this happen- Mariana Chavez and her husband Eli Sommers, who is also in the military! What wonderful people, thank you Mariana for taking the time out of your day to make us smile, and thank you Eli for the same and for your service as well.

Volunteers make the world go round 💞

Let’s hear it for Barbara Heikkila for creating these note cards and wristbands for the residents 🫶

These light up their life- anything you can do to volunteer- even singing, playing a board game, or bringing a therapy dog to our residents makes their day!
