Martha T. Berry Foundation

Martha T. Berry Foundation The future of Martha T. Berry, MCF is tied to the generosity of the individuals closest to it. HISTORY OF MARTHA T. BERRY MEDICAL CARE FACILITY

Dr. Henry G.

We all want the assurance that the very best health care will be available when our family, our friends, or we ourselves need it. Berry and the people of our community have played a
major role in helping Macomb County’s own Martha T. Berry Medical
Care Facility evolve from a humble, 100-bed hospital to a
beautifully renovated,state-of-the-art, 217-bed skilled nursing
facility. Martha T. Berry is proud to be considered a “safety net”
within the community because of the care provided to vulnerable
residents who might not otherwise be able to afford skilled nursing
services. The majority of funding the facility receives for patient
care comes directly from Medicaid.

Today, we’re proud to feature board member Tricia Haener.

"I serve because I believe deeply in the organization’s mission and its commitment to improving lives through compassion, dignity, and opportunity. The work of Martha T. Berry aligns closely with my own values as a healthcare leader: advocating for vulnerable populations, ensuring access to essential resources, and supporting people through some of their most difficult moments.

Professionally, I have spent my career focused on quality, safety, and equitable care. Serving on this board allows me to extend that commitment beyond my hospital role and into the community in a more direct and lasting way. Most importantly, I serve because I believe that leadership comes with a responsibility to give back. Being part of Martha T. This week, our halls were filled with wagging tails, warm smiles, and pure joy. 💚🐾

We were proud to welcome Macomb County Animal Control staff, volunteers, and their adorable four-legged ambassadors for a heartwarming “Puppy Love Social” at the T. Berry Medical Care Facility

This special visit was more than just a fun afternoon — it was a powerful reminder of how meaningful connection enhances quality of life. The smiles on our residents’ faces said everything. Moments like these lift spirits, spark cherished memories, and create companionship that is so important in long-term care settings.

Programs like 'Martha’s Mutts' beautifully demonstrate how collaboration strengthens our community — benefiting both people and animals. Comfort, purpose, and joy truly flowed on both ends of the leash.

We are grateful for Macomb County’s continued commitment to enhancing the lives of our seniors and appreciate the leadership of Hackel in supporting the programs that serve the amazing men and women who call Martha T. Berry home.

To everyone who helped make this day possible — thank you. These are the moments that define community and remind us why our mission matters so much.

This year, we’re spotlighting the incredible individuals who serve on the Martha T. Berry Foundation Board and sharing their “WHY.”

Today, we’re honored to feature founding board member Thomas Isett.

"I have been on the MTB Foundation Board since it started. It is an honor to have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the residents of this facility and the community.

Being on the Foundation board gives me the opportunity to make a positive impact on residents’ lives by helping to improve the quality of care and services offered at the nursing home. We support fundraising initiatives that provide essential resources, equipment, and programs for residents and staff. We advocate for the needs of seniors in the community and help shape policies that affect their well-being. I experience personal fulfillment by helping this vulnerable population and making a lasting difference in their lives and their families.

I look at this as an extension of my company, Always Best Care, where we aid seniors in their homes or assist in finding the right facility that provides the care they need. Everyone should have access to the care they deserve.

My passion for seniors stems from an early age. I was a tour guide for a senior travel company, and after that experience, I knew I would always be involved in the senior care industry. The professional and personal growth has been amazing, and I am blessed to work alongside this group of compassionate and caring professionals in the healthcare industry."

Thomas has been part of the Foundation’s journey since the very beginning, bringing decades of passion for senior care and advocacy to our board. His commitment to access, dignity, and meaningful support reflects the heart of our mission and strengthens the care we provide to residents and their families every day.

This year, we’re spotlighting the incredible individuals who serve on the Martha T. Berry Foundation Board and sharing their “WHY.”

Today, we’re honored to introduce board member
My “why” for serving on the Martha T. Berry Foundation Board is deeply personal.

My grandmother who raised me, Mary, spent her final days at Martha T. Berry Medical Center, where she was cared for with dignity, compassion, and genuine love.

As someone who raised me and played a foundational role in shaping who I am today, knowing that my grandmother was treated with respect and kindness meant everything to me and my family.

Serving on the Martha T. Berry Foundation Board is my way of honoring her legacy and helping other families receive the same treatment they need for their loved ones.

This work is personal, meaningful, and purpose-driven for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve in her honor.

Shane’s story is a powerful reminder of why this work matters. His service is rooted in gratitude, love, and honoring the legacy of someone who shaped his life — values that echo throughout our mission every day.

✨ Follow along as we continue introducing our board members and sharing the deeply personal reasons they choose to serve — and how their dedication helps ensure every elder at Martha T. Berry is treated with dignity, compassion, and care.
