During repeated federal shutdown brinksmanship in the early 2019s, (and yet again today!) we realized that the federal government was an unreliable partner as the single payer source of healthcare funding. Under the SGR formula, Comprehensive Health faced existential payment threats, and each delay threatened to freeze half our accounts receivable. We had to take out personal loans to make payroll. No business can survive such instability. To protect our patients and practice, we built our own solution, Comprehensive Health PLLC, one of the first Direct Primary Care models in Mount Dora, FL, offering $65/month for free yearly labs and free basic medications.
