As part of our commitment to Celebrating Life’s Stories®, we stand together with our Black and African American teammates, patients, and families in commemorating Juneteenth - Freedom Day.

On June 19th, Americans nationwide join together to recognize Juneteenth, the federal holiday that marks the freedom of African Americans from slavery in the United States. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, it took more than two years for the end of slavery to be recognized across the nation. On this day in 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, taking control of the state and announcing the abolishment of slavery.

While honoring Juneteenth, we look forward to the day when all Americans experience equity and inclusiveness in all aspects of Celebrating Life’s Stories.
