On March 3, 2020, when Melanie and I walked up to this spot, we couldn’t see anything but darkness. The clouds and rain from the overnight storm were still overhead. The rubble, the broken tress and telephone poles surrounding us looked like something I’d only seen on the news or a movie. It was an overwhelming sense of darkness, fear, and hopelessness. Where would we even start?

But almost immediately God, showed up. He showed up in the form of our friends and family. To be honest, I can’t tell you half of what happened that morning or for the next few days and even weeks. But I can tell you I was overwhelmed by the love that was poured out on us by friends, family and even strangers. Sometimes we (especially people like me who try to do everything for themselves) don't allow ourselves to experience the beauty of being served by the people that love us and accepting their help. When we are helpless is when we most need each other and God.

Selfishly, I wish I could tell you that road from March of 2020 to today was full of victory and successes, but the truth is, these last three years have been challenging and filled with ups and downs. But Jesus shows up the storms. His light always overcomes the darkness.

This morning we gathered with friends, family, tenants, owners, builders, developers and Mt Juliet leaders to pray over this property. We offered our work to God and prayed for our patients, customers, community and nation.

Today we thank God that He still stands up in the storms.

One year ago today, things seemed pretty bleak. It’s been a long year, but we are so thankful that our patients and community have stood with us. I am still humbled and amazed at how our friends rallied around us that day.
