Hey friends! I wanted to check in as I am really excited that every day I am seeing new people follow this page. For those of you who don’t know, Daisy Donations was started as my daughter, Lily’s, Girl Scout Gold Award. She started Girl Scouts in kindergarten, the same time we brought my grandmother, Daisy, home to live with us as her health began to decline. We cared for her until she passed away about a year later. That experience, profoundly impacted and shaped us all. When looking for a gold award project, she discussed starting up a medical supply closet, knowing it was something I always wanted to do, but never had time for. As a physical therapist assistant who worked in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health, I often found myself going to garage sales and purchasing equipment to give to my patients when they couldn’t afford what they needed. So many people need these items for just a short amount of time, and afterwards they get donated to places like Goodwill or left in basements and closets. Lily partnered with our church, Grace, United Methodist, and repurposed a storage room as her project. We quickly emptied and refilled the room in no time at all. It was then that we realized this was bigger than either of us had imagined. We were gifted a new much larger storage space, in addition to the initial space. Since November we have helped over 55 families receive equipment or medical supplies free of charge. We are working to build a network of people and churches throughout the area that have similar ministries or closets, where people can access what they need close to home. We have big plans and it takes the support of all of you all to make it happen. Please share our page and our story with your friends and family so that we can help as many people as possible!
