Excited to announce that we raised $2.2 million at our annual Gala!

Held at the former Reader’s Digest building in Chappaqua, this event brought together 600 community leaders, clinicians and supporters with proceeds supporting Northern Westchester Hospital's efforts to achieve a Level III-N Trauma designation and expand its neurology and neurosurgery programs.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity shown and the funds raised so we can continue our mission of providing world-class, life-saving care, solidifying its role as a vital healthcare pillar in the community.

In honor of the season of giving, we’re excited to highlight our President Junior Leadership Council volunteers, who recently distributed free copies of a children’s book they created about the importance of sleep.

This story (which features the main character "PJ") emerged from their own teen-aged experiences — juggling exam stress and daily pressures, and discovering firsthand how essential a good night’s sleep can be.

By sharing this book with 3rd and 4th graders, the Council hopes to inspire healthy sleep habits that support not only their current well-being, but their future success.

A powerful story of resilience — and the extraordinary teamwork behind Northwell’s ECMO program.

When a rare and life-threatening complication left Sean Jordan in respiratory arrest, our mobile ECMO and critical care teams moved quickly to give him the lifesaving support he needed. Thanks to seamless collaboration across our team of experts, Sean made a remarkable recovery and returned to Long Island Jewish Medical Center this Thanksgiving to say thank you.

A Thanksgiving week visit we’ll never forget. 🧡

Sean Jordan and his wife returned to Long Island Jewish Medical Center to thank the ECMO and critical care teams who saved his life after an unimaginable medical emergency. What began as pneumonia spiraled into a crisis when a violent cough fractured a rib and punctured his lung, triggering respiratory arrest. Northwell’s mobile ECMO team rushed him to LIJ, where specialists placed him on extracorporeal life support — a therapy reserved for only the most critical cases.

After six days on ECMO and the full effort of our MICU and lung program, Sean made a remarkable recovery. Just two weeks later, he walked out of the hospital, and months later, stood proudly in his brother’s wedding. His return to LIJ is a powerful reminder of resilience, hope, and the lifesaving impact of our award-winning ECMO program.

Overnight, 4-year-old Jack suffered a cardiac arrest and complications with his laryngeal cleft in his throat. His nurse-mom had to make a split-second decision: drive to the hospital or perform CPR?

She chose to drive him straight to Huntington Hospital. That decision ultimately saved Jack's life.

The Huntington Hospital Emergency Department team, led that night by Jennifer Gibb, DO, immediately took action, restarting Jack's heart within minutes. After a swift transfer to the skilled care team at Cohen Children's Medical Center, Jack recovered and was back to his smiling self a day later.

Say hello to Danielle Levy, BSN, RN, and Megan Tomanelli, BSN, RN, CPN, clinical nurse, SSUP who helped acquire an additional nurse FTE and resources for pediatric outpatient infusions.

In 2023, Danielle tracked patient volumes and noted the SSUP infusion program
was now averaging over 24 patients a month, a 100% increase, requiring additional infusion chairs and nurse FTE to accommodate the growing patient need.

Taking a moment to highlight Ailish Durcan. An assistant nurse manager, SSUP, Ailish began as a graduate nurse in the SSUP residency program in 2021 and assumed the APCM role in April 2024.

Here at Northern Westchester Hospital, we're dedicated to nurturing and advancing our nursing staff, offering different opportunities for growth and leadership development.
