Say hello to Danielle Levy, BSN, RN, and Megan Tomanelli, BSN, RN, CPN, clinical nurse, SSUP who helped acquire an additional nurse FTE and resources for pediatric outpatient infusions.

In 2023, Danielle tracked patient volumes and noted the SSUP infusion program
was now averaging over 24 patients a month, a 100% increase, requiring additional infusion chairs and nurse FTE to accommodate the growing patient need.

Big News 🎉 We're thrilled to announce Launette Woolforde, EdD, DNP, as Northwell's new executive vice president and chief nursing officer (CNO).

Dr. Woolforde will oversee more than 22,000 nurses throughout the health system. The veteran nurse leader has advanced nursing practice, education and research over the course of a 32-year career, the last two decades at Northwell.

"Dr. Launette Woolforde has been an exceptional and respected leader at Northwell for many years, bringing deep institutional knowledge and a thoughtful, forward-looking perspective to her new role as chief nursing officer," said John D’Angelo, MD, Northwell’s president and CEO.

After losing several family members to cancer, these three resilient women took a proactive approach for their futures.

Inheriting the BRCA1 gene mutation, all three women—aunt Teresa, mother Janet and daughter Emma—had undergone double mastectomies (Janet and Emma had preventive mastectomies, Teresa had breast and ovarian cancer) and received breast reconstructive surgery from Mark Smith, MD, at Northwell Health's Friedman Center for Breast and Lymphatic Surgery.

Their journey showcases the significant advancements in cancer care, from a time of limited options to today's era of proactive genetic testing, preventive surgeries and advanced reconstructive techniques.

It's a powerful reminder of the importance of knowing your family history and the hope that modern medicine offers.

Big news, Westchester! We are thrilled to announce the opening of Northwell Behavioral Health at Mount Kisco, a new facility from that expands vital pediatric mental health services in our community!

Located just down the street from us, this state-of-the-art facility houses two distinct practices from the Northwell Health system, supporting the mental well-being of children and adolescents:

A Behavioral Health Center: This center, operating as part of the broader Northwell School Mental Health Partnership, provides crucial short-term care, including immediate crisis assessments and therapy for students within partnering districts. It also delivers educational programming and professional development services to schools and families.

A Northwell Health Physician Partners (NHPP) Outpatient Practice: A Northwell Health Physician Partners (NHPP) Outpatient Practice: This specialized practice offers long-term, ongoing care for all youth ages 5-21, providing comprehensive behavioral health programs, including medication management and therapy for a wide range of mental health conditions.

This new facility embodies Northwell Health's commitment to ensuring every child has a voice and access to the care they need.

Starting today, John D'Angelo, MD, officially assumes the role of president and CEO of Northwell Health.

A physician first and foremost, Dr. D’Angelo leads with compassion. He began his more than 25-year tenure at Northwell as an emergency medicine physician at Glen Cove Hospital, and more recently served as executive vice president of the health system’s central region, advancing into health system-wide clinical and administrative leadership roles.

In his first few months as CEO, Dr. D’Angelo will focus on solidifying the Nuvance Health merger and advancing Northwell's digital transformation efforts.

“I’m honored to lead Northwell into an era of innovating for better health for all, where exceptional care, empowered employees, and thriving communities are the standard,” said Dr. D’Angelo.
