October is Physical Therapy Month! (Disregard the exasperated red face, this is the best I could do lol)
In the past, I haven’t been overtly proud to say this, which may surprise some. To be honest, I almost left the profession several times. But this past week I was reminded of why I love my job (another post for another day). I love troubleshooting mechanical dysfunctions and teaching people that fine tuning even the smallest movements can allow them to live pain free. There is nothing more gratifying than someone telling me that they are doing something they never thought they’d be able to do again. Additionally, the relationships I develop along the way. Physical therapists are the clinicians that are in the deepest of trenches with you guys. We live your pain, we celebrate the highs and hold your hand through the lows. We see you consistently, at least once a week for weeks, and often months! While we become part of your life, you also become a part of ours. We hear about your work drama, your kids, and are often there with you through the tough times too. This past week reminded me of how much I have touched some people’s lives, and reminded me of why I do love and have remained in this profession. So if you are in physical therapy, thank your therapist! They’re truly invested in you and your goals! And if you aren’t but think you should be, it may be time to take that step. If you have any questions, I am more than happy to help you get that ball rolling.

Ok, so I have to apologize. I made this account almost 2 years ago. Two years!!! This whole time I’ve been trying to think of the perfect inaugural post for an account that’s supposed to be witty, informative and relatable. I’ve put so much pressure on myself to come up with the perfect post, that I simply didn’t. To be fair, I’ve been busy. Busy raising my kiddo, and working full-time plus running a busy clinic, treating a full caseload of wonderful patients and also moonlighting at our local hospital. But during that time, I have created content which just didn’t seem good enough. So, for that, I’m sorry. But I’ve taken a step back, and I promise that there’s some good stuff coming this week. It’s no frills, like me, and hopefully it’ll be helpful. If there’s anything that you guys are particularly interested in learning about, please comment here or send me a DM and I will make it happen. With Love, Serena, your PT mom friend!
