A little peek behind the scenes today. 📚🖤
I currently have two very different custom book boxes in the works. 1 inspired by Terrifier, and another rooted in the timeless world of The Giver.
The Terrifier box has been especially fun, & a unique creative challenge. This one is for an 11-year-old, which meant finding that careful balance: staying true to the spirit of the series 🔪💉🩸while keeping everything thoughtful, subtle, and comfortably PG-13. It pushed me to get creative with symbolism, texture, and quiet easter eggs that fans would recognize without anything being overt.
That’s one of my favorite parts of this work! Every story, recipient, detail.. brings its own style & heart. 🖤
It’s such an honor to transform beloved books into one-of-a-kind vessels for stories that stay with us long after the final page is turned.

♥️ The holidays can activate old wounds you forgot you carried. Family dynamics, expectations, memories, overstimulationnnn 🫨 they all awaken younger versions of you.
If you feel anxious, heavy, shut down, overly emotional, or sensitive this season… that’s not failure. It’s your body remembering. 😬 Give your inner child what they needed back then: predictability, warmth, gentleness, pauses, boundaries..
a soft internal voice. 🥹
You’re not reacting “too much.”
You’re carrying a younger you through a familiar landscape. This time with more love. 💪🏼♥️💪🏼🧠

☃️ When the temperature drops, your blood vessels constrict to preserve heat around your vital organs.🥶
That means:
• less blood to fingertips & toes
• slower digestion
• slower metabolism
• stiffer muscles
• less oxygenated blood to the brain 🌬️ winter fog 😶‍🌫️
Your body wants warmth because warmth helps everything move again.
🔥 Ginger, cinnamon, and cayenne increase circulation.
🍲 Warm soups digest more easily.

🛁 Warm baths activate the parasympathetic nervous system.

Seasonal low mood isn’t just “winter blues.”
It’s real shifts in dopamine, serotonin, and circadian chemistry.
Here are 3 herbs you can use to support emotional steadiness and light during darker seasons:
✨ Lemon Balm — uplifting, soothing, brightens mental fog
✨ Rhodiola — supports dopamine and motivation
✨ St. John’s Wort — supports serotonin pathways

These herbs don’t force happiness.
They create space for steadiness, warmth, and clarity.
You can find all of these herbs 🍵 and more amidthemoss.com

❄️In the cold months, circulation slows, cortisol rhythms shift, and the nervous system becomes more sensitive to stimulation. It’s normal to:
• need slower mornings
• crave warm drinks
• feel heavier after cold foods
• get overwhelmed more easily
• need more solitude
• feel emotions more intensely
Your winter body isn’t weak, it’s adapting.
💪🏼♥️Support it with:
• warm hydration to boost circulation
• grounding smells like cinnamon, cedar, clove
• sunlight in your eyes within the first hour you’re awake
• deep rest without guilt
• herbal supports that warm, calm, nourish
Winter asks you to befriend your softer side 🤗

😋Here’s something sweet & human:
When you crave warm, carb-heavy foods in winter or during stress, nothing is “wrong” with you.
Carbs increase tryptophan’s ability to cross the blood-brain barrier 👉🏼which boosts serotonin 👉🏼 which brings a sense of safety, calm, and emotional exhale.
Your body is not being dramatic. 🎭
It’s trying to self-soothe through chemistry.
Comfort foods are emotional tools your nervous system reaches for because they work.
And you’re allowed to honor that without shame.
If you ever feel sluggish or foggy afterward, gentle digestive herbs can help: 🫚ginger, fennel, chamomile, peppermint.🌿
Not to punish yourself, but to support the body that’s trying so hard to care for you.
Your cravings are communication.
Your biology is doing its best. 💪🏼🧠🥞🥖🍨

Your body has a built-in alarm system that is brilliant, ancient, protective. When life keeps piling on without pause, that alarm can get stuck in the on position.
Little Science⚗️:
Chronic stress keeps cortisol circulating longer than your body is meant to handle. And when cortisol stays high, the prefrontal cortex (the part that helps you think clearly, access compassion, and make calm decisions) goes a little offline.
Your emotional brain ((the limbic system)) steps in to manage everything alone.
That’s why stress doesn’t just feel stressful.
It feels loud… sharp.. intense..
Big Feelings♥️:
Your body isn’t failing.
It’s trying so hard to protect you that it forgets how to stand down.
Herbs can interrupt that loop.
Nervines like lemon balm nudge your system toward safety.
Adaptogens like tulsi basil help your cortisol rhythm remember its pattern.
It’s biology giving you a warm hug and reminding the survival brain that it doesn’t have to do everything alone.

🌚 Less daylight means:
• your eyes send weaker signals to your circadian clock
• melatonin starts releasing earlier
• serotonin production dips
• energy naturally slows
• motivation feels heavier
• emotions rise closer to the surface
🌝 You’re not “unmotivated.” You’re seasonal. ✨
Humans evolved in environments where winter meant resting, slowing, protecting resources, and doing less.
Your body still remembers that.
So if getting out of bed feels harder…
If your spark feels dimmer…
It’s not you. It’s light. It’s chemistry. It’s ancient design.
Give yourself permission to move at a winter pace.
Warm tea, gentle herbs, grounding rituals, early nights.
This is not regression — it’s rhythm. 🥁
