We’re excited to welcome Allyson on her final clinical rotation from RCCC OTA program

My name is Allyson Hedrick and I am an Occupational Therapy Assistant student at Rowan Cabarrus Community College graduating in May. I have 2 years of daycare experience and enjoy working with kids. During my summer fieldwork rotation at Wings of Eagles I got to spend the week with Quinn🥰. In my free time I enjoy roller skating, reading, and playing video games. I am so grateful to God each and every day for leading me into this profession!!

Metronome power in OT 🎧🧠

There’s something powerful about slowing things down to build them back up. Using metronome-based activities at 54–60 BPM taps into more than just rhythm—it supports timing, sequencing, and auditory processing rooted in the temporal lobe.

Why it works:
✨ Strengthens auditory processing + sound discrimination
✨ Improves timing, attention, and motor coordination
✨ Supports language processing and neural organization
✨ Creates a predictable rhythm that calms and regulates

That 54–60 BPM range? Think resting heart rate. It helps the brain settle, organize, and sync—making it the perfect starting point for clients who need regulation before skill-building.

Try pairing:
🖐️ Bilateral tapping
👣 Step patterns
🗣️ Syllable pacing or speech tasks
✍️ Fine motor sequences

Regulate → synchronize → build 🔁

Sometimes the simplest tools create the strongest neural connections.
