OUR TEAM IS GROWING!

Please welcome Elizabeth Heard to Velocity Sports Physical Therapy!

Elizabeth is joining us as our Patient Experience Coordinator, and she’ll be the one helping make sure everything runs smoothly from the moment you reach out to us.

She’s a former soccer player, a massive UGA football fan (unfortunately), and an overall great person. In her free time she is most likely either with her dog Louie, at the beach with friends, or coaching soccer for South Carolina Surf.

Whether it’s helping you get scheduled, answering questions, or keeping things organized behind the scenes, Elizabeth is here to make your experience at Velocity easy, smooth, and stress-free.

We’re pumped to have her on the team—make sure to say hey when you see her around!

Struggling to hit the ball far?

You might be swinging with your arms instead of your body.

The best golfers create power by:
➡️ starting the downswing with the hips
➡️ letting the arms fall naturally
➡️ delivering the club with body rotation

When the sequence is right, power feels effortless.

Most golfers have the sequence backwards.

Want a drill to fix it?

Too many times we hear stories from athletes who had no guidance on their return to throw program after finishing rehab.

“Here’s your program, start throwing. You’re discharged.”

This is neglecting the most important part of a baseball players rehab, and it’s usually because providers just don’t know how to do it.

Our return to throw programs are individualized for the athlete, because every situation is different.

A MLB reliever’s return to throw should look different than a middle school infielder’s return to throw.

If you need help getting back throwing pain-free, give us a call.

MEET THE TEAM

Dr. Nathan “Nate” Harris is the owner and founder of Velocity Sports Physical Therapy. Dr. Nate is a physical therapist, athletic trainer, and strength coach who specializes in treating athletes. He has spent time working in both the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks, and the MLB with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Dr. Nate started Velocity Sports PT with the mission to bring professional level sports rehab to the lowcountry. Too often he had witnessed athletes go back to sports without proper treatment and gotten reinjured. He sought to change that and provide individual, sport specific, high quality rehab to the greater Charleston area. In the past five years, Velocity has been fortunate enough to have 1,000+ athletes trust us with their care in getting them back on the field better, faster, and stronger!

OUR TEAM IS GROWING!

Please welcome Dr. Aidan Kennedy!

Dr. Aidan Kennedy is a sports physical therapist who is passionate about helping athletes not just recover, but return stronger than before. Aidan earned his B.S. in Exercise Science and Kinesiology from James Madison University and completed his Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Old Dominion University.

Growing up playing football and basketball, Aidan experienced firsthand the challenges of injury after tearing his ACL during his junior year of high school. That experience inspired his commitment to not only guide athletes through rehab, but to elevate their performance beyond pre-injury levels. He believes physical therapy should go beyond recovery and focus on building resilience, confidence, and long-term athletic success.

Aidan has worked with athletes across a wide range of sports, including football, basketball, baseball, golf, softball, soccer, and tennis. Through his clinical rotations with Velocity Sports PT, he gained hands-on experience treating athletes from the professional, collegiate, and youth levels.

With a strong foundation in evidence-based practice, Aidan integrates the latest research into individualized treatment plans. He takes a holistic approach, emphasizing the role of nutrition, recovery, and mental health in each athlete’s journey. His goal is to deliver comprehensive, performance-driven care that empowers athletes to reach their highest potential.

AVOIDING SHOULDER SURGERY AND PLAYING ENTIRE SEASON WITHOUT PAIN

Frank came to us with shoulder pain and an MRI showing that he had a tear in his shoulder and would need surgery. With aspirations of playing college football and wanting to play his senior year, his high school athletic trainer gave him our info (shoutout Lauren), and he reached out to us.

Our evaluation showed significant weakness of his shoulder musculature, limited shoulder mobility, and overall avoidance of overhead activities.

Frank trusted the process, put in the work, and saw MASSIVE benefits. In just 3 months he saw his strength jump 64%! Not to mention he was able to play his entire senior year without pain!

If you are an athlete and looking to get back to your sport without pain, reach out and our team of sports medicine specialists will get you right.

SETTING NEW VELO PR’S AFTER TOMMY JOHN

Jackson came to us having already had one elbow surgery, and with an MRI confirming a UCL tear and Tommy John surgery scheduled. Understandably, he was nervous about his baseball future.

Not every rehab is smooth sailing, but Jackson kept his head up through the tough times and put the work in every step of the way. He worked hard at regaining mobility, then gaining shoulder and elbow strength, and finally through his throwing and bullpen program.

Fast-forward a year later, and he hit a 3 mph personal record off the mound of 93 mph!

Proud to be a part of his team to get him to this point.

If you are a baseball player in the lowcountry and are dealing with pain or an injury, reach out via DM or our website. Our team of baseball rehab experts would be happy to help!
