Hello again everyone! My name is Kirby and I wanted to tell you all about my goals at FTXSLP ✨🤍

My goal for every kid I work with is to feel seen, heard, confident, and safe. It is no surprise how having something that makes you different in the world can effect your self esteem, so I make it a priority to build up my kiddos so that they are confident in who they are and where we want them to be.

I always tell my kids that I am not looking for perfection, but I do look for hard work and progress! It is the best feeling when a kid becomes confident in trying their best even if they might not get it right the first time!

About me: “My name is Kirby Coffey and I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC before moving to Mount Pleasant in 2022. I graduated from Columbia College in 2017 with a BA in speech language pathology and the certification to be a speech language pathologist assistant.

I have always worked with kids throughout my life, whether that be running camps over the summer, watching kids in the nursery at church, or babysitting/nannying!

Many families come to us after years of feeling stuck. Here are three facts we want everyone to know!✨

The truth is, progress happens when we stop looking at speech in isolation and start paying attention to the bigger picture. (Mouth breathing, simple habits, etc)

When we understand the why behind speech, feeding, and oral motor challenges, and pair therapy with the right support at home, everything can change.

🧠 Fact #1: The brain is most adaptable in the early years. Children who receive speech language support before age 3–5 show stronger long term communication and academic outcomes.

📚 Fact #2: Parent involvement = faster progress.
Studies consistently show that when caregivers use simple language strategies at home, children make bigger and more lasting gains!
