Proper post-surgical wound care can make all the difference in healing.

Here are 3 simple ways to reduce the risk of infection:
-Keep it clean: wash hands and gently cleanse with saline or clean water
-Use proper dressings: apply the right dressing and change as directed
-Monitor closely: watch for redness, swelling, drainage, or increased pain

If something doesn’t look right, don’t wait to get it checked.

While anyone preparing for surgery can benefit, a consult is especially important if you have higher-risk factors like:

➡️ Diabetes – Elevated blood sugar can slow healing and increase infection risk.
➡️ Smoking – Ni****ne restricts blood flow and limits oxygen to the incision site.
➡️ Circulation issues – Conditions like PAD or venous insufficiency can interfere with proper healing.
➡️ Weakened immune system – Chemotherapy, steroids, or autoimmune conditions may require extra support.

At Charleston Wound Care, we take proactive steps to help protect your incision and support optimal healing, before surgery even begins.
