Franke at Seaside, a ministry of the Lutheran Church, traces its beginnings to the evangelical Lutheran Charities Society of Charleston, when it was first founded in 1892 on Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston. In 1908 the Evangelical Lutheran Charities Society, now known as Lutheran Homes of S.C, Inc., purchased and renovated the Adger family home and soon the Jacob Washington Franke Home welcomed its first guests. Since that time, the church’s ministry has grown by a hundredfold, providing a broad continuum of care as well as innovative wellness programs and services.

Spring has sprung at Franke At Seaside. Whether it is in front of Keil Health Center, Rodenberg Hall, Healthcare, or the Burges Center. Flowers and budding plants are a beautiful view when you are walking around the campus. Yards in the cottages are being spruced up and ready to show their colors. As you can tell even our goose couple are walking around the campus enjoying the view.

Here at Franke At Seaside, the employees are always highlighted and appreciated. In March the 5TT committee had ice cream sundaes on Employee Appreciation Day. About National Doctors Day
National Doctor’s Day is celebrated each March 30 to honor the contributions of physicians across the US. The date commemorates its conception on March 30, 1933, and date of the first use of general anesthesia in surgery by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842. It became an officially recognized day of appreciation when President George H.W. Bush signed it into law in 1990.

We were honored to celebrate our Innkeeper Society members at a special Appreciation Brunch at Franke at Seaside. This meaningful gathering gave us the opportunity to reflect on the incredible generosity of those who support the Lutheran Homes of South Carolina Foundation and our mission of serving older adults with compassion, dignity, and excellence.

Because of our donors, lives are enriched, communities are strengthened, and care is elevated every single day. Their commitment makes a lasting difference, and we are deeply grateful for their partnership.
