IMPORTANT FOOD ASSISTANCE UPDATE
Partial SNAP benefits will begin to be issued Saturday, Nov. 8. Michigan neighbors who normally receive benefits on the 3rd, 5th or 7th of the month will receive partial SNAP benefits Saturday, Nov. 8. All other SNAP recipients will receive partial benefits on their normally scheduled date.
WIC benefits will continue uninterrupted until at least Monday, Nov. 24. Ingham County Health Department’s WIC program confirmed availability of funds, which is also confirmed at Michigan.gov/WIC.
MDHHS is communicating directly with neighbors enrolled in SNAP. If you currently receive SNAP benefits, or have a pending application for benefits, you will receive updates directly from MDHHS about the status of your benefits.
Any already-issued benefits will remain available for use. Funds currently available on your Bridge Card can continue to be used without interruption.
GLFB will continue to update our Government Shutdown Neighbor Resource Center as updated information becomes available. Thank you for your patience and trust.
Today, GLFB confirmed the following update from our partners at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) on November SNAP benefits: Michigan neighbors who normally receive benefits on the 3rd, 5th or 7th of the month will receive partial SNAP benefits Saturday, November 8. All other SNAP recipients will receive partial benefits on their normally scheduled date.
While we are glad to see partial benefits issued quickly, we know stress and uncertainty remain high for many neighbors who are still unsure how they will keep food on the table with just half of their typical SNAP benefit amount. GLFB wants to reiterate that we are here for all neighbors in need, especially those who are feeling the impact of the ongoing shutdown and its unprecedented effect on food assistance programs.
