How it helps in OT: improves fine motor control and visual perception & sequencing

How it helps in ST: supports narrative and expressive language, articulation via tasked based practice, and sequencing & linguistic skill building

How it helps in PT: integrating balance via standing or sitting on an uneven surface and improving hand eye coordination to sharpen neural pathways

⭐️ Recipe of the week⭐️

🥞owl pancakes 🥞

Here’s a yummy recipe that we made for arctic week!

1 banana
1 apple
1 cup blueberries
1 carrot
1 cup Cheerios
1 cup peanut butter or peanut butter alternative
4 pancakes

Use the pancake as the base, spread peanut butter, use apple slices for wings, Cheerios for feathers, bananas for eyes, blueberries for eye balls, and carrot slice for a nose!

All of this cold weather calls for an Arctic Week recap! Here’s what we did this past week:

-Feed the Polar Bear Obstacle Course 🐻‍❄️
-Critter Clinic (Arctic Animal Habitats) 🏔️
-Walrus Craft 🦭
-Don’t Break the Ice (act out the animal) 🧊
-Winter Owl Snack 🦉

It was a great week to sharpen up our arctic animal knowledge, work on our goals, and also brave the cold weather 🥶

⭐️ Room 6 upgrade ⭐️

New additions have been added to room 6 for:

-Extra padding/protection: mats covering all walls provide protection for friends swinging, moving around, or in need for a moment of calmness

-More hooks for swings: overhead and side anchor hooks are placed for all types of swings— like our platform and Lycra swings!

We are excited to have a safe and multi-functioning room 6!

A little holiday shopping goes a long way! 🎄 Before Christmas, our friend took a trip to Target with Ms. Renee and Ms. Brooke to pick out Christmas gifts for his family. Doing this, he practiced independence, decision-making, and real-world skills that come in his teen years. Wrapping the presents added extra fun while working on focus, coordination, and following steps—this was excellent practice for a busy holiday season!

We loved welcoming our families for a sensory-friendly Santa experience where kiddos met Santa, decorated ornaments 🎨, decorated cookies 🍪, sipped on hot cocoa ☕, and made sweet memories at every pace 💚
