GLUTAMINE POWDER: FOR MUSCLE BUILDING, MUSCLE RECOVERY, BURNING FAT, RESTORING INTESTINAL HEALTH & GENERAL DETOX!
There are 20 protein-building amino acids: 9 are considered essential and must come from dietary sources, 6 are conditionally essential (essential under certain conditions) and 5 are non-essential. Glutamine is a conditionally-essential amino acid that is THE most prevalent amino acid in the body’s muscles.
HEALTH BENEFITS
1. MUSCLE BUILDING, MAINTENANCE, RECOVERY & FAT BURNING
HGH (human growth hormone) levels increase nearly 400% after supplementing with L-glutamine. Increased HGH helps increase metabolic rate, build lean muscle and burn fat.
Exercise can deplete glutamine stores. Levels of cellular and plasma glutamine can drop by 30-50% following an intense workout. Because of this, many post workout/recovery supplements contain significant amounts of glutamine.
2. INTESTINAL HEALTH
Glutamine plays a major role in intestinal health, which makes it an especially important supplement for those dealing with intestinal conditions like Crohn’s, colitis, diverticulitis, IBS, leaky gut & candida overgrowth. . Glutamine is a major fuel source for intestinal cells, helps to repair damaged intestinal tissues, and helps protect against mucosal breakdown in the gut.
3. DETOX
Glutamine ALSO helps support the body’s detoxification efforts by cleansing the body of excessive ammonia.
CAUTIONS
L-Glutamine is generally well tolerated by most people.
Lower quality glutamine can have an ammonia smell to it and should not be consumed. In some people, glutamine can trigger gastric upset. In others, glutamine can convert to glutamate (think MSG) and can bring about similar negative reactions as MSG (flushing, sweating, chest pain, etc.).
WHAT TO LOOK FOR
Glutamine is available in capsule form but is most often sold in powder form (we recommend supplementing in powder form if possible). High-quality glutamine should contain no other additives and should be relatively tasteless when mixed with water or other liquids.
Some manufacturers market theirs as “micronized” glutamine, which may be more quickly and easily absorbed (note that there is no set definition of “micronized” and most powders are, by nature, micronized to a greater or lesser degree).
HOW TO TAKE
Typical dosage amounts for glutamine range from 2-20g per dose, and are normally taken 1-2x a day. Some of the most notable benefits are seen when supplementing in the 20-40g a day range, but it’s recommended that users work up to those ranges gradually over the course of 1-2 weeks.
This might mean 2.5g per dose taken 2x a day for days 1 & 2, then 5g per dose taken 2x a day for days 3 & 4. At this rate you could be at 10g per dose by day 7 and 20g per dose (if tolerating well and wishing to go that high) by day 15.
As glutamine powder is relatively tasteless it can be added to shaker bottle drinks and smoothies without changing the flavor.
